My facility is seeing patients fly in from New York in order to have surgery (example: “urgent” ACL repair”). Is anyone else experiencing this? What do you do? How do you screen? Do you allow it?

Apparently it’s a big waiting list (makes sense). A patient didn’t want to wait until later this Summer, so hopped on a plane. Very frustrating.

I’ve been “partially furloughed”. Basically they can’t give me hours in my OR. They are staffing by seniority. It just feels like I’m constantly on call because they may use me one day or they may not.

Hi, I got a call today for a second interview tomorrow. I'm OR though, so the millions of NICU applicants can rest easy! As far as I'm know (I did my preceptorship at LPCH), they are taking 4 OR new grads. Just FYI.
