  2. hallo there, im sorry but i had 265 and failed it.im so disapointed and i really dont know how they grade it because my results said i was above passing 3 sections and all the rest were near passing so i dont know if that wasnt enough to make the 50%that they say they need.im now working on it again and we will see what happens abut if anythingh good luck to you Hope to a be a nurse one day:o
  3. im sailing in the same boat and havent even started with the suzanne plan.anyway ill try and maybe we can give each other motivation.I dont get it having applied all the kaplan strategies seems to me none worked.have taken it 3 times each with 265 and im now very depressed.Have no clue what to do anymore.kindly keep me posted on any new developments or new books some say the exam cram is awesome have anyne of you tried it yet?will keep you posted
  4. Hallo all i also have taken my Boards 3 times and failed it.i think i covered all the material and was actually doing very good with Kaplan.my average was in the 70s.What do i need to do and prepare i really have to pass this test and i worked as a graduate nurse and most nurses felt i would make a teriffic nurse. What should i do--help please
  5. I think its 49.99
  6. i agree with you sara the school has issues.may be the 80% has critical titrations unlike the ones who took simple conversions and giving gtts/min and so forth. Its the school policy to enforce that and not the students.yes for the critics out there i had also to get 100% however 805 is still passing considering most calculations will already be done by the pharmacy.(Though we should know how to calculate0:lol2:
  7. we are all humans and sometimes subjected to many kinds of situations that can lead to serious consequences.First of all was there any safety issue concerned or jeopardised?(patient comes first i assume he/she was safe)second she is a good nurse and was done with her assignment. Why in hell would you want to fire her?report her to the board of nursing?Does your hospital belief in second chances in their policies?im sure if a doctors have their lounges where they can take naps(in hiding) while nurses are subjected to overload and too much work. You reporting this nothing against you,i would think 2 times working next to you.Dont put people into problems and trouble. This is their life, may be children and huge family responsibilities involved and career.just think she is human too
  8. do you ever regard a doctor as being less than the other doctor?lawyer less as the other lawyer. Please refrain from using the word we work harder than other nurses.Other nurses work hard too.being CCRN which i am doesnt make me look at the other nurses as being lesser. We all have the same license RN but different specialities. And offcourse just like any other profession we have to work harder and in general make the nursing profession grow.If we think im a trauma nurse so im better than Rehab or Psych nurse surely,we all look like we are crazy. If you really want to prove your point lets all make a diffrerence and stop challenging each other am CCU nurse so im better or im a DNP so im the super nurse. You see what im saying.Consider these nursing is the only profession so far that has 2 year college graduating(unlike other professions that you have to be masters prepared as entry Eg PT or OT)we fall under this umbrella hence not getting the respect.
  9. spirt 1 im doing doctorates based on an independent federal funded project. It has alot to do with nursing and patients in general.I have been trauma nurse for 4 years im sure i have done, made a difference and saved lives and all that stuff. If you must know its related to the emerging superbugs.Dont you think we need people to do this reaserch so nurses can get meds and pass them on to patients. If i dont do it and someone else dont then who will?the best way to put it is im advancing with what i love best.and ofcourse i dont mind doing nursing even with my doctorates.I have masters in public health and chose not t go to med school. So nursing is in my blood.Sprit 1 im sure you understand all im trying to say
  10. you guys are on each others neck. How about some patients could be reading about our discussions and frustrations? What will they think of us?are really earning our respect like we should?Im a trauma male nurse and taking my doctoral studies(doing something about it coz i dont want any trauma nursing anymore).Sometimes i feel the same way especially when the helicopter cant stop bringing in trauma PTs.I dont complain but i do it because this is my job.If both of you feel you cant perform your duties i dont think you are safe nurses.Quit your jobs and sign up to work in the parking lots/dish washer where the stress volume is less.and again what happened to our professional jargons language?to keep the public from getting what we are talking about. :angryfire
  11. im currenlty taking my phds in nursing and i heard a rumor that there is a DNP(doctorates in nursing practice) programme which takes 4years to graduate however i dont know the job description. Now when i looked in the curriculum and talked to a person from ANA, i realised there is no big difference from PHD and a part from just taking extra research classes its very synergestic with phd.im now specialising and working on analgesics and pain in mice. Please has anybody or does anyone has the specific infromation about this DNP programme this is new and i wonder what is different from PHD will and where exactly will one work, salary and the impact on nursing etc. This was not defined to me on my phone conversation quzicall CCRN,
  12. Since you are that young why not explore when you graduate by doing travel nursing?I did that when i graduated and im now thinking of buying a home in shrewsbury Pa.You should check that place out.Its gorgeous.
  13. mnyapala replied to hali's topic in Maryland Nursing
university of maryland is offering a msn for people with previous degrees(BSN) in any field.Feel free to g there and find out.I think they started this fall.Good luck
  14. mnyapala replied to hali's topic in Maryland Nursing
of course any university with nursing programme can offer masters in nursing.Im also in the masters programme at hopkins. What is happening with public health.i have masters in public health but decided not to go for med school.I think nursing works out fine. And by the way if you register for masters in nursing, its called CNL(clinical nurse leader) and FYI there is also new doctoral programme which i believe is soon to start early next spring.i will keep You posted
  15. when you signed to do nursing you should have learnt the consequences.doctrines of nightngale revolved around care(remember the crimean war?)hope so though a long time maybe. Now this is the worst part, did you see Katrina news and the Rn who was told his family is second and patients first and that he should report for duty or face disciplinary action?.what in the world was all that about?how can you ensure patients safety while your family is in jeopardy?i dont know what the policy was or is however can we loose our licenses if mandated to do such duty and refuse?just wondering?
