  1. Australian nurses are also generalist trained - however, paeds and obstetrics are extremely specialist areas. By the sounds of this, I will need ten years experience (to accomplish at least two years experience in each area and time spent training for paeds and gyno) and a masters in midwifery(18mths duration of study) to be able to transfer. This sounds a little far fetched to me. I think I'll contact the hospital close to my other half's residence and find out what they require. But if anyone has information regarding the legal side of marriage and whether it's really necessary, that would be appreciated.
  2. Thank you - do you know why they require such a diversity? I'm hoping to specialise in mental health and not even remotely interested in paeds or gyno (both specialist nursing areas requiring additional training here)...
  3. I'm an Australian nurse. My boyfriend of two years has proposed, but he lives in Ohio and would not be able to transfer his job qualifications if he moved here. Have any other Aussies moved to the states? What is the tax system like for nurses waiting for citizenship? Anyone marry a Yankee - what sort of hoops did you need to jump through? Do I really need to get married to him to gain citizenship (we've both been married before and I'm a little uncertain that I want to go that far)? Would I need to do a bridging course being a foreign nurse? Thanks for any constructive feedback 😀
  4. I'm currently on my last prac (emergency centre). They did an education day for us; we learned about spinal injuries and while we were practicing rolling a patient with suspected spinal injury, the quiet male student pipes up with "remember: I'm a guy" (because we had just learned that a bad sign of a spinal injury is an erection). I was feeling a little stressed and that comment made me lose it. I hadn't laughed so hard in months
  5. I love all of ZDoggMD's work, but as I have a 9yo daughter who is infatuated with the movie, 'Frozen', I'm going to put this as my favourite:
