Is RN Network a decent agency ?
I've done several contracts with them (currently on one now), and haven't had any issues. I agree with other posts, in that it can all depend on your recruiter and your relationship with them. I don't have any experience with them "nickel and dime"ing me like other companies did either. But again, what's great for me might be awful for you!

Hospital specific tests before contract
I get anxiety just reading "PBDS Test" and its been years since I've had to take it!! Do hospitals still use that dreadful thing?? As far as the other "competency" tests: I seem to always have to take some before a new assignment and they don't always apply to me either as I'm a cath lab nurse (can't remember the last time I had to think about vanco peak/troughs!) Anyway….the questions start to become familiar after while and I've never had a contract canceled because of them.

Travel Raves anyone??
I agree with missypriss19! I traveled for 6 years, took a break and did permanent for a while, now I'm back traveling. My first go around I literally traveled the country, this time I'm staying closer to "home". I can't recommend it enough! It's such an awesome way to travel, see the country, meet new people, and gain all kinds of nursing experience. I will say, however, it isn't for everyone! You have to be confident in your skills, know your limitations, don't be afraid to speak up for yourself, and be very flexible. Usually hospitals that use travelers need warm bodies STAT so your working conditions might not be perfect. Whenever I had a contract that wasn't the best working environment, I just kept telling myself there was an end in sight and really lived up my time off! Best of luck to you, and if I can help in any way let me know! :)

Heard of American Mobile Healthcare
I've been traveling for 3 1/2 years, some assignments with American Mobile...and I say run as fast as you can in the opposite direction! My recruiter with them was awesome, but has since moved on, and I'm currently argueing with them about a pet deposit they don't want to give back to me. Let me just say in a nutshell.....AMN will nickle and dime you to death if your not careful! RN Network was pretty good...and I'm with Intelistaff right now and really liking them....I'm getting paid alot better now, too! Best of luck to you! :roll

Need Input on Good Travel positions in San Diego
Hello....I am currently on assignment in SD and have been here for 1 yr exactly. I first worked at UCSD THornton hospital in La Jolla and had my contract cancelled (the management left a lot to be desired, but it's since changed); its a very beautiful hospital and the pt's have a tendency to think they're at the 4 Seasons instead of a hospital....I then worked at Pomerado/Palomar hosp in Poway and Escondido, and they both weren't bad...the dr's at Pom didn't really treat the nurses too respectfully tho....Palomar is a much bigger hosp and had overall better experiences there. I'm now finishing up at Scripps Green in La Jolla and it's been a good experience. I've had friends work at both Sharp Memorial and UCSD Hillcrest that've absolutely loved it. Hope this info helps!! Good luck and have fun!!

advice on colorado travel
Hey guys.....I traveled to Denver on 2 seperate occasions and absolutely loved it....not too much to do in Colorado Springs, but a nice day trip. I was there both times with American Mobile and never once had difficulty finding an assignment, although I'm still with them and am finding that they have a tendency to "nickel and dime" you if your not careful. My first assignment there was for 10 months and the second time for 6 months and never had an issue with being considered a permanent resident for tax purposes. Hope this info was helpful.....and have fun!!
