  1. I am working in florida for parallon I only get 28/hr 240 per diem perweek so take home about 1000. this is less than I have made in past with them. I am not traveling anymore after this. I make more at my own hospital and don't get crapped on as much. I am so sick of traveling. no respect for travelers in florida
  2. please stay out of florida. I am here now and just gave notice as I wont finish my contract. it is too horrible here. the pay is the lowest I ever had, the working conditions are poor and people are down right mean. I am originally from nj. worked at st. michaels, st. barnabas and beth Israel. I have never worked like a dog before but that is how it is in florida. go somewhere else. I am a nurse for 25 years.
  3. i have worked for parallon for three years. I am not active right now though. I did go to a hca hospital in florida and had such a horrible experience there I didn't renew my florida license. stay away from ft. pierce. I was let go after 2 month because they said I had a patient complaint. at no time did anyone talk to me or ask me what happened. I actually didn't even know that someone was unhappy with me and felt that I had a good rapore with my patients that day, only two in icu. rather than ask me they just let me go. it was not a clinical problem. I have completed 32 travel contracts and never had a patient complaint so I don't know what happened here. it was handled in a way which made me very upset as I was not able to discuss any of the things the family brought up. some were downright wrong. anyway parallon did back me up in a way. I went on to two new contracts with no problems. I have worked in Atlanta, Houston and Louisiana for parallon. hca hospitals seem to make you work a little harder than others but there are good ones out there. I don't know how you find out. there are horrible hospitals that are not hca as well. it is better to find our from other travelers what hospitals they like and try them. it is a crap shoot out there. good luck.

well it's been nice chatting. i actually just retired. working 3 days a month and will travel once a year, hoping to go to mrytle beach in january.. glad i dont have to work full time anymore . i was getting a little burned out. i have been doing step down these last few years and the patients are getting sicker and they want you to take more patients. very unsafe. good luck to you ned.

sorry that whole thing posted. just some jobs they had, i dont do er, and i dont do icu anymore so some of them were not what i wanted either. i think it is a good agency though.

ned, i will look up that agency and post it. if like houston or wisconsin or california they had a lot of jobs and paid very well.

no, maybe not the right site. it was over a year ago and the agency is reputable. the site i went to just listed some of the top travel agencies. no one called me, no one harrassed me. i just viewed the site and picked an agency i wanted to review. in the end i stayed with parallon because they had jobs where i wanted to go. th mee one i didnt like is out of wisconsin and place mostly in houston, california, and wisconsin places i am not interested in going. been traveling for 14 years, im not likely to get hooked up with a no name agency. nightingale is the exception. i did get paid on time and my recruiter did call me to check up on me. they just paid lower and gave no insurance.

wow, parallon did make a mistake and took out tax from a state i never worked in but in the end it was hypothetical and corrected. i called the head of hr and he got involved. also i have been a nurse for 22 years and if my check was screwed up and not corrected i would not go to work until it was. i dont play with any agency. i am glad i did not have that experience. my recruiter at parallon is **********. i fired my first one after two years as we didnt get along as well as i wanted. ********** is wonderful. if you give parallon another chance ask for her. i also worked for trinity for a couple of years and liked them. what happened though is i was going to work at a hospital and when parallon found out (it was an hca_) they pulled it and i had to go through them. i am actually going to travel with parallon in january.

i have worked for parallon since 2012. i did just finish a contract at a non=hca hospital with nightingale. the new worst agency. parallon has it's faults but their pay is good, never had a problem with my pay check and they work hard to get you an interview right away. i signed up with an agency that was rated #1 on the list of top travel companies on this site. had no jobs in the states i wanted, never called me and frankly dont impress me. most of their jobs wanted video testing which i have done before but most hospitals have stopped using. i have traveled since 2000 so i have a lot of experience with lots of agencies. at the end of the day it is not the agency it is the recruiter.
  13. I saw that in my contract and I couldn't believe it. fortunately I only signed an 8 week contract, have my own housing so I don't take money for it. in five weeks this company will just be a memory.
  14. hard to have a feeling or comment as you never say what the mistake is. obviously it was not a big one as you are still working and you say your co workers are compassionate. I would doubt that. you are probably talked about behind your back because that is what nurses do. I have been a nurse a long long time. anyone who makes a mistake is labeled, as I believe you are. again, not knowing what you did is hard to even comment on. med error? dropped a patient. etc. to write an intelligent article you shoud just state the case. what happened, what the out come was for you and the patient. what did you learn and how would you prevent this in the future.
  15. real pcu? should have more than 4. optimal is 3. I did a contract in Sarasota in 2000 at Sarasota memorial. loved it. no unions around that much. 6 patients on a pcu is unsafe and no one should tolerate that.
