  1. I wish I could like this more than one time.
  2. Can this post be deleted? Just an honest question......
  3. Your welcome sweetheart!
  4. This week I have learned...... Sleep is a beautiful thing..but I think I knew that already lol Hello everyone! I missed you all! Hope everyone is having a nice time
  5. Thank you to all who responded to my question! I became an MA because I wanted to learn more about the medical field and wanted a job where I can learn and experience what it would be like. I learned so much from MA school and it has lead me to a job that helps me pay for my pre-nursing classes, allows me to use my skills that I learned from school and enjoy working everyday. This job has given me a chance to work with all different sorts medical professionals and helped me realize my desire to move up. Excited about starting nursing school next year keep sharing your MA stories!! IH
  6. quiltynurse56, Your post really made me feel better. Thank you.
  7. Nope, I wasn't referring to that post.
  8. So true. Why did you initially decide on becoming an MA?
  9. So I am being told that the only reason folks go to MA school is because they.... 1. They wanted something fast and quick to get into the medical field 2. They were unemployed and lazy Next, I am told that because of these two reasons, MAs are incompetent and are not trained appropiately to be considered "medical professionals" I am really just venting.....but I work hard everyday as an MA. I have learned so much about the medical field, and have even taught a lot to my coworkers (RNs, LPNs) too. I just feel like some people have this messed up idea about MAs. From one bad experience they judge the whole lot of us. I am applying to nursing school this year and my time that I have spent working as an MA has help me realize that I am making the best decision for myself. If you have never gone through the MA training and worked as an MA then you cannot speak about it. You cannot tell me what my job entails. You cannot tell me what I learned and what I didn't learned. You don't know the work, don't act you do. That felt good So my question to my fellow MAs.... Why did you go to MA school? IH
  10. He wants me too tell you that he is sorry for eating all of your birthday cake in the break room, but in his defense you did tell him to "help" himself.
  11. As I get closer to starting nursing school I have been considering a lot of changes it will bring to my life. I generally try to eat healthy and try to workout everyday. But I notice that during my school semesters I will go for the fast food and eat more junk because it is quicker. I will also miss my workouts. I know that it is because I work full time and try to use the time that I have left for studying and homework. Most likely, when I start nursing school I will continue to work full time. How do you all fit in the time for healthy eating and exercise while going through nursing school? IH
  12. Go for it! I have been an MA now for almost 4 years. I have been taking my prereqs while working fulltime and have enjoyed all the things I have been learning along the way. This Fall semester will be my last semester of prereqs before nursing school and it feels like it has flown by. Take the plunge! It will be so worth it. No 23 is not old. In my CNA class a majority of the students were in their 30s or above with plans to move forward to nursing school. If I start nursing school in the spring then I will be 25 by the time I finish. As long as there is a will to achieve your goals in life, no one can hold you back or stop you but yourself. Good luck!!
  13. If you have anymore issues with the combative patient in room 2, take Brutus with you. Best sedative this hospital has ever spent money on.
  14. I think that you should look into clinical nursing (MD's office) or telephone nursing. But if you think that nursing isn't for you at all...then it would be best to switch majors.
  15. Please tell me you see him too! I have only gotten 3 hours of sleep these last two days and I think it is starting to get to me.
  16. whaaaaaaat.? I would never wear these lol
  17. Ummmmm. Nooooooo.
  18. Thanks those who responded! I actually did go and try to take the exam, but I ended up getting dismissed because I decided to be stupid and go back and fill in an extra dot on a previous test . So now I am signing up to take it in September. I am hoping that my score will be posted in time enough for me to get my application in for the Spring 2016 nursing class. The website says that scores are posted, at the earliest, 2 weeks after taking the test. That will give me enough time to put in an application. But, any later than that and I will have to apply for the Fall 2016 nursing class instead. Any one have to wait longer than 2 weeks to get your ACT results?
  19. The way that the BSN program works is that, you first have to get 56 credit hours completed. These credit hours are usually done at the local CC. When you get those finished, then you apply to the program. The program is 2 years long and your are awarded a BSN at the end. I will have all 56 credits by the end of spring 2016 and plan on getting into the BSN program fall 2016. But I also have enough credits now to apply to the ADN program and I hope to get in spring 2016 or fall 2016. My application is pretty competitive so I am confident that I will get into either one. I agree with everyone's advice, and I am pretty sure I am going to go ahead and shot for the ADN program. Honestly, the only people that are making me doubt this decision are my parents. They don't really understand how nursing degrees work. They think that a BSN nurse is more skilled and educated than a ADN nurse, so they really want me to just go for my BSN. I think they just really want bragging rights and be able to say that their daughter has a bachelors degree. None of my cousins have actually gone to college AND finished a four year degree, they have all dropped out. But I just don't think I need to add more money to my current school debt. Thanks guys! Keep the advice coming! IH
  20. So you think I should go with the ADN?
  21. I am getting ready to apply for nursing school, I keep going back and forth between two programs (although I plan on applying to both programs) I keep going back and forth because of the cost of the programs. One program is a 2 year ADN and will cost a total of $7,000 The other program is a BSN and will cost a total of $40,000; however it will take me just as long to complete this program as it will take for the ADN. My ultimate goal is to have a BSN and then later move on to get my DNP. I was so sure that I was going to do the BSN so that I will have it sooner, but now that I am actually applying to nursing schools I am wondering if the cost is worth it. I already have $18,000 dollars in school loans to pay back when I get done with school, so I am afraid to add $40,000 dollars more to it. But at the same time, it makes more sense to just go for my BSN especially because it is going to take the same amount of time as getting my ADN. I am lost lol What do you guys think? IH
  22. Update! I got an A!!! The class was definitely a toughie, no walk in the park at all. But it is such a relief to have stuck with it and achieve my goal. Yaaay!
  23. Thanks guys! I don't know what makes it so hard and why it will not stick!! I learned the cranial nerves easy....but our professor told us last night that they won't be on the practical lol Oh well...I will keep staring at it and trying to make it stick.
