Lehman College Fall 2017 Admissions?
Yes, I just graduated from the program and I would say 80% had our laptop open in every class lol I suggest you don't buy any books or buy books that are refundable because either a) the professor doesn't use the book or b) 90% of the books are on PDF and someone has it, you just have to ask around. It will take some warming up but as you get to know each other and they assign you mentors, resources will start flowing.

New York Presbyterian Nursing Attendant
I was in the float pool... but when I floated to units there was usually no one else or just 1. I remember one day I went to the Oncology floor and the nurse were telling me that their part time Nursing Attendant has been there for 9 years and after many requests, refuses to go full-time because of the burnout.

If you're working at Columbia, the night shift is terribly understaffed. I was only the only one on the floor 9/10 times. When I used to leave work in the morning to head to school I could barely stand. The perks are amazing but the job itself is rough.

New nursing student going into MedSurg. Any advice?
No, not fully but mostly. The professors breeze through the material and some (a lot) of them have a Masters or Ph.D and get assigned to teach nursing basics like Patho and Fundamentals that they haven't taken in 15+ years and can't remember anything so they struggle and you end up teaching yourself. I've had several classes where professors run out of lecture time in the class before the exam and make us read material on our own and say it will still be on the exam. In addition, professors will spend the entire class time doing a bunch of case studies or rambling without actually teaching the material. Oh man, I could go on and on.....

Definitely purchase Saunders as a lot of people have been saying. But when it comes for studying exams I always made charts with columns that had, All the diseases that were going to be on the exam and answered the items below for each... 1. Etiology (who often gets the disease --> age, gender, ethnicity) 2. Main signs and symptoms 3. what confirms the diagnosis? --> tests, labs, pain location etc. 4. Interventions (Surgery, self-resolving, repositioning etc) 5. Special diets... and what types of food provide that diet 6. Goals.. basically what confirms that the patient is getting better It helps to focus your studying... Good luck, Med Surg is a tough one but you can do it! And don't worry, I had to kiss my 4.0 prereq GPA goodbye too

I did it 2-3 weeks prior too. A recruiter calls and does a mini interview and then sets you up for a specific slot on the interview day. But if you don't make this one, I believe there will be another one in February.

2 day orientation on the weekend, Saturday and Sunday. Yes, you can pick up as much as 5 shifts a week and no less than 2. 4 weekend days per month required, if working overnight, Saturday into Sunday and Sunday into Monday only, (Friday doesn't qualify). I interviewed in February but the job isn't actually until May.

I ended up quitting. I was given the night shift with no other choice and it didn't work out for me.

lehman college gpa problems
Hey sorry hun, I am currently a Senior in the Generic Program. Unfortunately, they only count the prereq GPA. With that being said, with a 2.6, it's a definite no. I would suggest looking into private schools, who are often a little more lenient. If you're really determined to do nursing, take time to do over some of those prereqs to make your applications stronger. However, for Lehman they only accept the first grade. Don't give up, keep pushing!

NYU Langone Student Nurse Extern Program- Summer 2016
I have applied and haven't heard anything either. I can't even check my application status online because it doesn't show that I applied but when I tried to reapply, it said I applied already. Sigh...

Lehman FNP
I am in the Bachelors Nursing Program. What I will say is you get what you pay for (or less).... We have no say in our clinical sites, class times nor professors. They make your entire schedule for you regardless of your work schedule. The administration is so/so. Few are okay, most are a pain. My 3 classes I took this semester were 90% self taught. I am young & only work 20 hours a week. If I was older, or had a family or full-tme job, I don't know how I would deal with it seriously. I know this isn't exactly what you asked for but hopefully this provided some insight. Good luck!

Thanks for the detailed info StarvingRtist. The email was kinda jumbled and overwhelming. Btw, I received my orientation packet. If anyone hasn't gotten it, just send me a private message with your email and I'll forward it to you; I'm sure it's a standard email. Also, will you guys be purchasing 2 scrub tops or 1? I'm a "more than one" just in case person, but I'm thinking $47 vs $94? Plus with all the other expenses, I think I'll survive with the 1 top for now What do you guys think?

HELP!! Lehman college Nursing program 2015
Congrats everyone again and thank you Musicmurse7! Glowinthedark, I wrote in the email "Please confirm that you have received this email" and she responded right away. I am not sure if that had anything to do with why I got a response. Don't lose faith guys.. it doesn't really seem like they have themselves very organized over there. If I didn't hear anything by Friday, I would go in person next week.

HELP!! Lehman college Nursing program 2015
Called this morning and surprised someone answered. It usually goes straight to voicemail. She sounded very ambiguous. "Sometime this week or next week." I asked, will it be by mail or email? She said "mail." I said but some have already received acceptance emails. She then said "I guess by mail and email". The only sure thing she said was "no later than next week." Well go figure lady... The end of next week is basically July No mail today, no email either. Impatiently waiting over here haha..
