  1. I love nights. I have no intention to ever go to days. It works with my body. I come form a long line of night owls. When I trained on days I felt like I was walking through a fog!
  2. Every time I tried to read the book I'd fall asleep in it. I like the pictures and charts though. I didn't take notes in class after second semester. No flash cards. What i did need to write down I kept to one paper and i wrote normal, no cramped writing. I'm definitely a study group person. Nothing like trying to explain something and realize the holes of your logic. And I did a lot of nclex questions before each test. Those are the only books I tabbed. I graduated top of my class. Its not traditional but it worked well for me. I knew the material well. My friends still text me with questions on there breaks now that we all have jobs.
  3. I asked my family about the meds they took and to tell me about them , read the labels, ect. That covered most of the drug classes. The second I knew someone I loved took it how could i forget! I got high A's in both of my pharm classes.
  4. Thank you! I had to be a registered nurse by July 9th to start my job in the ICU and I did it!!! Thank you rockenmomRN for your help a couple months back. I did everything you suggested and even when to LA to get an early test date. Good luck nikkidm82. You got in!!! You can use all my books, i clicker ect, I'm so proud of you! See you soon! Puresass let my know when you pass. I know you will do great!
  5. I graduated on the 3rd of June.
  6. I took it on the first. And my name is on Ca. BRN today!
  7. a little less than 4 weeks
  8. I passed too. I just found out!!! 75Q no math and many sata's.
  9. I passed the NCLEX!!!! And I start my job on Thursday!!!
  10. I took mine July 1st in California. I got 75 questions. I don't know how many sata's i got but it felt like a lot. I didn't try the Pearson trick. Well, i started to but it said i had to reset my password so I just let it go.
  11. Took my NCLEX yesterday and now impatiently awaiting my results.
  12. taking it July 1st. cant wait to get it over with!
  13. lots of ink if notes are on blackboard
  14. This topic has never made sense to me. I have actually looked back at a couple years of class schedules, the FAQ on the homepage and don't find what they say to be the case. One thing you will learn as a nurse "assess assess assess". My sister in law is finally getting in this semester. She got on the waiting list in 2006. I'm sooo glad to be done, straight A's, graduated honors, made some amazing friends, and helped countless people! Nursing school has been amazing and has changed the way my brain thinks. Its not as bad as everyone makes it out to be content wise, its the time that is the killer. I take the nclex July 1st and start my New Grad Position July 13th!!!! I am so incredibly excited!!! 5 years in the making...I don't understand what is going on with the wait list but I am so glad I made it through the waiting (2 years), care plans, class exams, pop quizzes, math tests, pre-labs, skills labs, hesi finals, APA format, deadlines, paperwork, poverty ect ect ect.
  15. I have taken Hesi (as finals) throughout my program and just took my exit exam yesterday. I have scored in the 94 to 99.9 percentile on all of them. What I did 1. Read the kaplan review from cover to cover. (Its a quick read) 2. Read chapters covered in Hesi, hints, answer review questions, and did the cd practice tests. 3. Saunders review questions and rationales. Honestly the test is 50% strategy. Kaplan helps so much with that.
  16. I finished nursing school!!! Took my final yesterday.:balloons:
  17. Med Surgical 1 because everything clicked for me and cardio/pulmonary because I love the heart!
  18. I'm sorry you didn't get a letter. If there is no night and weekend program then there will probably be 40 slots instead of 70. There will be some people who postpone/decline. It may be a couple weeks before its sorted out. I think they also send letters to people who are on standby. But I don't know when those go out.
  19. I will never forget waiting. It felt like my life was on hold, and in some ways it was. I remember when they sent out the acceptance emails I didn't receive mine because I have a yahoo email address. I don't know if that problem was fixed or not but they encouraged us to get a different email address first semester. I never did, now the majority of my emails from the school go to the bulk. Also, I received a letter by mail about a week after the emails went out. Just make sure all your contact info is current. They are not going to track you down. They send out the responses give you somthing like two weeks to accept/deny/postpone and then move on to the next.
  20. Yes, I was referring to the acceptance letters. Congrats sdmommie!!! I'm not sure but they might not have one (n&w) for awhile. I don't think we got the funding for it. People who want back in my program are now being referred to the day program I have heard. You should defintely call and ask. I know you had put it off previously, holding out. I really hope the people on here that have been waiting 3 years to get their letters, finally get them. I have my fingers crossed for you.
  21. So, the letters should be going out soon to the wait listers soon. I remember I got mine the first week of May.
  22. Has anyone graduated recently from Grossmont? How long did if take for you to get your okay to take the nclex? The hospital I accepted a job at (Sharp) doesn't take IP's and the New Grad programs start in July. Students from other schools that graduate at the same time as mine say they will have their license within two weeks. Does this sound right? My program director said it will take 4-6 weeks to get approval to test and then about a week before your name appears on the BRN website. What was your experience?
  23. Congrats! We will be right next to each other. I will be getting some of your patients. I'm days. No, I have never done rotations on that floor before. Half of my class is doing their rotation there for 230 and they really liked it and said the nurses are really nice.
