  1. I will be honest and admit that I did not work as a CNA before entering nursing school so even though I tried to gather information online and ask my nurse friends about thier jobs I knew I would not know what I was truly getting myself into until clinical. I'm not the type of person that will ever find my passion in their work (or at least I dont think I am) so I went into nursing optimistically but for financial stability. That being said I spent five years in a job I completely loathed (dental assisting) so I at least want to like my job a little. That's the main reason I have a Plan B.
  2. I've got two left feet so that's not an option for me!
  3. This is a just for fun question! Did you have a plan B in nursing school? Like if you failed or did not like it. I know most people were probably all in or this was their one and only chance to further their education so I don't mean to be insensitive to those situations. My plan B is radiation technology.
  4. Thank you for the answers everyone!
  5. Thank you both for taking time to answer my questions. I really appreciate it! I'm starting a ADN nursing program in the fall but in NC you do have to have your BSN to become a school nurse so I would have to further my education. My interaction with small children has been in a daycare setting for about 3 years. I became a little burned out and I was 17-20. I think at the time is was too stressful for me. Now I volunteer monthly as a Sunday teacher and feel more comfortable but you always have that one rowdy kid. I will definitely sub before jumping in head first. I did not consider the fact of more elementary schools. Thank you for the advice.
  6. Hello School Nurses, I am interested in becoming a school nurse (highschool) one day and had a couple of questions. 1.) what type of nursing experience should I gain before applying for school nurse positions? 2.) Does it get lonely being the only nurse? 3.) I know this may sound funny but I don't necessarily enjoy small children but I do like teenagers and is why I want to work in a highschool. Do you have to start off in elementary school? 4. Lastly, do you find school nursing to be fulfilling? Thanks in advance for your answers!
  7. No, my husband is a production manager.
  8. I do not hate people but I do find them really annoying at times. Mainly because they do not know when to stop talking. I do try my best to smile and listen though because I know there are adults with no friends that just need some attention but sometimes I feel like I'm being held captive. As far as children are concerned it depends on the child and if their parents make them behave.
  9. Hello, I am also applying to the ADN program at SPCC. Although I am not extremely familiar with the nursing program itself I have gone to school at SPCC since 2011 and feel like the prerequisite teachers a very nice and the admin staff is very helpful. Are you applying for this Fall?
