RHIT??
I have found what I want to do with my career!!!!! FINALLY!!! you knowthe feeling when you finally know!!! So anyway anyone out there a Registered health information tech?? I know the money comes with experience and it can be challenging finding full time work, but I'm up for the tesk!! It's what I love doing, researching, office, filing, calling...and it being health related just makes it so much more interesting! I even would still get to take A and P course's for my 2 year degree. I'd like to know if people could tell me how this is going for them or if you've done this work before?

Feeling very dumb!!!:(
I took a cna class. I have that until next year but soon as I got a taste of things I knew I wanted to do more and be more. I have a life, kids, bills, get away from the life I've had by bettering myself and this is my way to do that because I know I can do it.....but when there's thousands of applicants...I'm put off guard like it's not going to happen for me.

Feeling very dumb!!!:(
Yes, I have one other school that I can apply to but that will open later this year. The one I went to today is a free school, no tuition no financial aid. The other one is like a community college type place. I can and will pass the test I need to take because I have to, no other choice. I'm just scared I will never get accepted when there are so many people trying to get in and do the same thing.

Feeling very dumb!!!:(
I just went for just a info session for a local lpn school and I'm already feeling overwhelmed. I have all the things to hey except.....tabe and teas!!!!! I have to pass both test to "might" be accepted, like 2000 people and they only choose 30 something. How did you lpns do this? I see myself doing this and only this. To be honest I think I'm OK smart not to bad if I just practice but 30 out of 2000??? Omg and on top of that it'll be may before I even get a letter that says if I'm in or not!!!! How did you get through this? Any advise plz!!??

Lpn jobs
Most doctors offices or clinics you have to have at least 1 or two years of experience as a lpn. My question is without that experience could I still try to get in, and I have 1 year of cna experience so would that help any? Really "sale" myself in the interview showing I'm very determined and motivated person along with some health care related experience!!! Is it still worth a try with a possible good outcome?

Do you have to enjoy being a cna to make it as a lpn!??
And that is why there is such hate in caring for others. Comments like that!! We all knows what she meant, why is there a need for a juvenile, disrespectfull comment like that? Anyways...thank you for your input quiltynurse56!!! You would think the most important thing in life (ones health) wouldnt have room for juvenile comments.

Do you have to enjoy being a cna to make it as a lpn!??
Well yeah of course, like I said I wouldn't have a problem doing it at all. I had a nurse come tell me I just toileted so and so, and just changed so and so and I'm like...wow she's good!! I just can't do that and only that for a whole shift!!!

Do you have to enjoy being a cna to make it as a lpn!??
I was a cna for 3 months, give or take a little. I really felt like I was going to love it, I was soooo excited. Then it all just made me want to get in my car and drive away very fast!! Lol. I mean I did my part, I was caring and never took any short cuts, helped out other cna's and nurse's when I could. I was told by a couple cna''s that where in it 10, 15, 30 years that I look like I have been doing this for years!! the more responsibility that comes along with being a LPN is really what I'm after, well pay of course but being a LPN will I still have to do what the cna's do plus what I have to do like meds, and treatments? I wouldnt have a problem with it, to help out a fellow employee but I know I'm going to have my own responsibilities also. If I didn't totally fall in love with being a cna or even like it really....does that mean I want be a good nurse? I mean that's why people further their education right? To have a job improvement right? My mind is stuck in nursing and I can truly say I think I could be a great nurse, I feel bad that I don't like being a cna. Should I feel guilty?

TABE testing
Hey there. I will be beginning my lpn program in June 2016. Will be taking the TABE test soon and it states I most get a 11.0!? Does anyone know how it's scored? What's the highest someone can get? Or is it different everywhere? Thanks for any feedback!

Other careers in nursing
I know that health care will be around for ever and anyone in it can expect to keep a job once they have one. I'm attending school now but by the end of this semester I have to know what I'm attending school for😯 so, I really love the biology, anatomy, psychology, chemistry stuff (even though I really have to stay in my books to pass by a hair) but that's what interests me. Not necessarily patients!! I really love backstage type of stuff. Are there any careers that come to mind that aren't like years and years away? Just trying to get some ideas from others. Being stuck in a office or lab all day would definitely fit for me...any ideas?

CNA in LTC to PCT in a hospital
Hi.I have been a cna for 2 months now In LTC. I have gotten a call for a PCT in a hospital. I don't like the LTC setting and overjoyed about my offer to go to a hospital. I have heard that they train you for phlebotomy, ekgs, catheter situations etc. Just wanting to know if there are any PCT in NY area that work in hospitals that once worked in LTC can tell me a difference what I can expect at a hospital. Ever since I been a cna I have felt it's not for me but I got to thinking maybe it's the long term setting I don't have a glitch for or something. I don't mind the not so fun parts of the job Its the rude nasty attitudes from other staff and I would like to work with different age groups not just the elderly. What is your experience being a PCT at a hospital? The same as LTC?

MA and LPN in Dr's offices
I'm in NY and have heard the same about pediatric offices. They hire lpns. My children's peds office has lpns, and really hours I could work out with the kids. I just hope by the time I'm done with my program and finally have my license I can find something, I would hope with me being a cna for 2 years at the finish of the program will help me out gaining employment. Idk. A small clinic or doctors office is my goal. With some hard work and luck....I hope I get there. Hoping they keep needing lpns. Heard so many things from people, online, news, etc about this "fading out buesness" lol just scared of not finding it in the clinics or offices, guess I could always do ltc nursing it's just very hard for me, the environment is not thrilling, I feel I would be a better nurse else where, but that's just me, everyone has their own desires!

MA and LPN in Dr's offices
Yea that's how it's going now...just take things as they come. The experience I'm gaining now will be with forever and help me do what I want with it at the end. I work when ever they need me pretty much, weekend, holidays. So I'm just looking forward to one day!!! Thanks!

I'm a nurse and I don't like people.
I'm going to get this book. Thanks for the advice. It's just me and my 2 children, that's the only people I have conversations with. I'm a cna and find my job so hard because of my love to be in my own mind lol. All the other girls being best friends and laughing all day long, Im just not in to that, I'd rather do that with residents one on one, and go home. I'm going for lpn. Hoping to get in a doctor's office. I feel that wouldn't be to much....if i can land a job that is!!

MA and LPN in Dr's offices
Hi there. I'm going to be a lpn the summer of 2017. I am a working cna right now and know that this is not what I want to do forever. It has its pros and cons but it's just not for me. I want to be in a clinic or Dr's office setting. My question is do you think by the time I have my lpn license in 2017 that there will be a need for lpns or ma in offices or clinics. I'm so scared to go through school and then at the end not be able to do what I want with my hard work. I know pay is low but it will still be more than what I'm making now. The schedule M-F and experience is mainly my priority right now. I don't know if I want to do the rn thing right now so that's always a possibility later. Anyone in tune with the need for lpns, do you think it will keep going strong in the near future?

Monroe Community College
just curious if anyone here is attending MCC in rochester ny? Or has? For the RN program. I would like to know a little more about the prerequisites. I don't live in that area yet and I'm just curious. I don't have previous classes or anything. Still have to take the accuplacer test for placement in English and math. So trying to get an idea of how long this is really going to take. Want to get it done fast as I can by taking one or two classes over the summers also. Any advice about prerequisites would be really helpful. I'm really worried about failing them or not being accepted into the program.

CNA Reciprocity
I have currently started my career in the medical field as a CNA in NC. I will be moving to Rochester NY in summer 2015 and will continue with nursING school there, and in t he meantime work as a CNA. My question is does anybody know from experience what they start out there with little experience and also can I just file for reciprocity and be ok? Will I need to take test and classes over? I really hope not as for I will need to find a job asap. Thanks for any advise....
