Roll call! who got accepted for spring 2006?
I'm in for April 2006 BSN program. I'm 29 and have two little ones (ages 1 & 3). This is a career change for me as well. I was previously a Social Worker for Children's Services. Currently, I am a stay-at-home mom. I hope to one day be a Pediatric Nurse. Glad to have found this wonderful site where we can all share experiences and info!

BA in another field to ASN?
Hello everyone, I'm quite new to this forum and have really gotten some useful information from here, so I hope you can help. I was accepted into the BSN program at National University (San Diego, CA) and am currently finishing up on my prerequisites (A&P I/II, Micro). I have a BA in another field, so all of my upper division units transferred. The financial aid loans will not be enough to cover the entire program, so I was thinking of transferring into their ASN program instead. My idea was to get my ASN, start working and hopefully get educational assistance from my future employer to help with the BSN expenses. The review commitee denied my request to change programs. They stated that since I have a Bachelor's degree already, I must stick with the BSN program and the ASN program was not an option for me. So, I am wondering if anyone else has heard of this? Does having a BA automatically mean I have to pursue a BSN or above? It just seems odd to me. Any information that anyone has would be greatly appreciated. Thanks! Rose

Any other "second career" students out there?
I'm 29 and currently a SAHM (to a 3 and 1 year old) and a pre-nursing student. Prior to becoming a SAHM, I worked as a Social Worker for Child Protective Services. I was just accepted into a BSN program which will start up in April 2006. Right now I'm finishing up on A&P I, will start A&P II right after, followed by Microbiology. After that, I'll start the nursing core classes. So exciting!

How to raise kids...
Hi all! I haven't read through all the posts, but I can say that the reward system has worked for me...at least so far. I've only implemented it as of two weeks ago, but so far so good. I have a 3 year old, so I can totally relate to the original poster. Since I've implemented the reward chart, I've noticed a dramatic change in her behavior and in wanting to help out around the house, even eating all of her food (which is a task at this age)! I made a chart with a row for each day of the week and a column for each task I want completed or behavior I want modeled. She gets a star for each task/behavior completed. At the end of the each day, if all columns are completed, she gets a magnet. So in a week, she can collect a total of 7 magnets, which in turn get exchanged for a prize. If she misses a column, she gets no magnet for that day, which means it'll take her longer to earn her prize. It has really motivated her and increased her independence as well as confidence. Now she feels like a "big girl" doing things for herself and being accountable for little things like picking up her toys, washing hands after using the bathroom, etc. Good luck!

Feeling Guilty-Kids,Work&school
Hi all! I just wanted to add that I also feel the same guilt. My kids are 1 and 3. My 3 year old constantly tells me that she doesn't want me to leave on the days when I have class. All I can do is spend as much time as possible with them during the day to try to alleviate their anxiety when I have to leave. I just started school 3 weeks ago, so this is still relatively new to them. I'm sure it will get better as time goes by, but for now, it is definitely hard! I'm in there with all of you! We'll make it through and it will be better for our children in the long run. Good luck and best wishes to you all!

How old are you?
Hi everybody! I'm a newbie to this forum. I just wanted to say that you're never too old to realize your dreams. I am 29 with a family-2 lil ones, ages 1 and 3 and my hubby. I am changing careers. I have a Bachelor's in Sociology, but have always wanted to pursue Nursing. I sometimes tell myself that I should have done that in the first place. Oh well, no regrets. I was just accepted into an Accelerated BSN program. I'm working on my prereqs now and will officially start the core classes in April 2006. When I graduate I will be 31, just a few months short of my 32nd birthday.
