What would you do?
We also DO NOT give narc's if the pt. does not have a ride or is not going to be an admit, It is amazing how quickly someone can get a ride when you tell them "I have a order for (whatever narc) but can not give it till you have a ride home, We can not even call a cab because of the liabilty of putting an impared person in a taxi???? Why they can go with a friend/family member I do not know.

Is this illegal?
This subject is near and dear to my heart, I was working as a paramedic in ER, I was the first paramedic to get my RN, I was not paid a GN salary, however they worked me as one, lucky that was just for 3 weeks, My title and salary did not change untill I got my licence, however I was so happy to have a job,(thats how they get ya) I not only did not complain, I just Thanked them for letting me stay!

Need to interview Pediatric nurse for project
Rachel, I'm a ER nurse but see lots of pedi pts, could you do something like fever control? The subject of vaccinations is touchie, Many Parents are refusing for fear of autisum. We are not allowed to "teach" these parents, they have the right to refuse. Seems like teaching tylenol/ibuprofen/pushing fluids would be short and sweet, adding a bit about febriel seizures (bonus) We have so many parents that come to ER and have not treated a fever because "I wanted you to see how high it is" I will believe you..... not treating can cause major problems, and it just makes the child feel bad longer, I can't tell you the number of times a limp kid comes in, and just treating the fever you have an active kid in an hour.

Good news - Texas/Excelsior Update
This is GREAT news, I graduated this Jan, passed NCLEX in March, but have many friends in the RN program at Excelsior, so happy they are not under a "crunch" time table to finish. Excelsior Nursing is a Excellent Program. It is not a easy program but doable. CPNE MANSFIELD SURVIVOR!!!!!
