Also learn how to WORK management to your benefit. There are MANY management styles & personalities. Some don't like being challenged & may not have good management skills.

Why fight after the fact? You could have transferred to another unit. Also learn to move on. Consider finding employment with a comparable facility, maybe the next town or state over. Good luck. I do think that NEW nursing students should work all shifts in a Nursing home for a good month, then 12-hour shifts at the hospital shadowing nurses to get the real of what Nursing entails.

***Cost of living*** Different states pay different wages in a lot of fields.

One of the best ways to prepare for NCLEX, in my opinion, is to WORK in a hospital or SNF to get hands on training and to start thinking as a nurse. You will be exposed to so much, by virtue of just being there. You'll see intubation, NG tube, PEG tube feedings, heart rate monitoring, etc... When you see it, you get it! A picture is worth 1000 words.

I say your health first. You don't have to list EVERY job on your resume'. This is 3 months it can be omitted. You took 3 months off for health reasons. Now, based on postings about nurse treatment I read on these sites, It sounds like Management, Prioritization & Communication training are very NECESSARY for nurses. It's very important to have a professional unit where people hare treated fairly & with respect. NOW GROW A THICK SKIN. :)

Moving to another state? Request CNA reciprocity. Small fee. $50 in some states. How to request reciprocity 1. The first step is to contact the Nurse Aide Registry in your home state and request a Application for Enrollment By Reciprocity”. Ask them if you should send the completed form to them or to the state to which you are moving. 2. Then contact the other state and ask them the same thing. Some nursing assistants have been able to fax their request directly to the state they are moving into rather than with their home state. Do not take chances, ask. Be sure to get the name of those who talk with you and their phone numbers. Call them by name while you are talking so they remember you. 3. If the agency in your new state says it is acceptable for you to fax or mail info, then do this right away. Be sure to clarify the fax number and the mailing address. Then fax or mail your info to the attention of the person you spoke to. Ask them what items you will need to fax or mail but be prepared to send at least the following: Copy of your Social Security Card Copy of your drivers license (or other photo ID) Copy of your present State approval Copy of a recent pay stub or something to document that you have worked in a nursing home in the past two years. Tell them where you are moving from and where to and where they can send the new card. They may ask for other info as well 4. When you send your info, include a brief note to thank the person who took time to talk with you and ask them to call you if they need more information.

We need to "grow a pair" in Nursing. FOCUS ON YOU . What are your goals for yourself? What shift do YOU want to work? If your desired shift is not available on this unit, transfer to another unit. Speak to HR. Or leave. Don't be afraid. You are giving away YOUR POWER. But my feeling is transferring you to day shift is a POSITIVE for you. That tells me they feel you are able to handle the morning shift. The night shift is slower & better for new RNs/orientees on the unit. FLIP THE SCRIPT & MAKE IT WORK FOR YOU.

We have to address issues head on as they come up. So that the behavior does not continue.

Be careful with very expensive ADN programs. St Pauls in Queens is also about $44k. The problem is if you don't become licensed, you will still owe this HUGE DEBT.
