University of Southern California (USC) Keck School of Medicine CRNA - 2024
I did general chem at UCSD extension- I did the class + lab. It's a reasonable workload, and was able to pull good grades in both. I did an intro to physics class through a community college (way cheaper). UC Berkeley extension is another good option. I took physiology and had a great experience. On the other hand...I'm currently taking biochem there...it's self paced but can be frustrating with how the module is locked until everything from the prior one is graded. The instructor I have takes FOREVER to grade- syllabus says they can take up to 7 days, and is a very hard grader. You also have to score 70% or higher on the final or you fail the class, and I've read some reviews that people are surprised to find they fail the course.

I think there were around 50 interviewed for 24(ish) spots. My friend currently in the program said loans are available but not really any scholarships. She also said in her cohort there were like 4 people who were from the alternate list. Sooo maybe? I'm not hopeful though and plan to reapply next year

CHOC RN Residency August 2018
I got an email that said I would find out the results of next candidacy by the end of the month. As a reference I applied to oncology- and I have 2 years experience with adults. I know someone posted about having an interview for oncology. So I'm not very hopeful that I will get an interview because it seems like the oncology interviews have already been scheduled. But I'm not sure!

Hey all! I applied for the fellowship/residency and got the email as well. The on demand portion for me was 23 questions. Most of them were typed responses, and a few were audio recording. You can go back and edit as many times as you want before submitting. You are able to re-record if needed. You can log in and out as many times as you want before submitting- as long as you submit within your 48 hour window. Some of the questions are very straight forward, and others are behavioral based. Nothing too crazy- they just want to get to know you before hand to see if you are a good fit before calling you in for an in person interview! Good luck everyone!!

CHOC RN Residency June 2016
Hey all! So I've applied two different times- and have yet to even get an interview :/ for those of you who applied and have gotten calls- some advice would be greatly appreciated! I thought I had a pretty impressive resume and personal statement- but maybe not! I even geared it toward my nut of preference- hem/Onc. What kinds of things have you said in the essays. Also- are you guys PALS/ACLS certified? I just did those this week. Did you guys do your senior preceptorship on a peds floor? Help a sister out- cause I'm not giving up for the next round!! Thank you in advance!

CHOC RN Residency June 2016
Thank you for this information! It is really helpful. Crossing my fingers over here. I actually spoke with HR today. She said she expects the application window to close next week. I asked if they prolonged it due to low applicants and if those who already applied were not the candidates they were looking for. She said it COULD be a combination of both, but since they recently added this June start- not a lot of people knew about it. She also said there are only 35 available spots for the June program.

Hmm. If you don't mind a commute. Irvine is close. A bit more expensive, but nice neighborhoods/safe. Closer to the hospital- there is an apartment complex right off of college avenue by the Angels stadium that is nice. It's in the industrial area so it's not sketchy. (In fact anything around that area is relatively good). You don't wanna live too close to Disneyland- due to traffic and actually the neighborhoods close to their can be super sketchy. Fullerton isn't too bad (but that would be a bit of a commute) the best thing to do is to Zillow a place and then check the crime report for that neighborhood! If you find a place and wanna know more we have good friends who actually live down there and are experts!

Hey all! I also have applied to the June cohort, and have yet to hear anything :/ I am comforted in knowing that they had a lower number of applicants-- gives me some hope that maybe I stand a slight chance in getting an interview. Good luck everyone. Keep posting interview calls as they come!
