I currently work in med surg and I have an interview coming up for labor and delivery. This will be my first interview after landing my current job and I am not sure what employers are expecting from an "experienced nurse." What should go in the portfolio and am I expecting "new grad type" questions? If anyone has any insight or advice I appreciate it. I'm so nervous!

My family has 6 animals in our house. So let me tell you how lonely I was when I moved 2000 miles away...extremely! What I did was puppy sit. It helped and I was so grateful I didn't have him 24/7. My advice: puppy sit or join a service such as Wag and walk dogs. I'm sorry to say this is not the right time for a permanent dog in your life, but the time will come! And as others have said, dogs like aussies are in the intelligent breed and wouldn't do well being alone for long hours at a time. When the time is right a dog will be in your life and as always, try to adopt and don't shop!

I've only heard of people getting offers from those same units, also. I tried contacting one of the recruiters, but have not heard back yet. Needless to say..I am going a tad crazy playing this waiting game. :)

Good luck everyone!! Yes I had 4 employees interview me and was asked 5-7 (?) questions. I can't remember. I am eagerly waiting to hear back, but I was told "by the end of the week"!

I'm surprised a thread hasn't been made yet for the residency program coming up. Well, interviews are almost here and I was wondering where everyone will be interviewing! I will be interviewing for L&D. I wish everyone the best of luck.

Since I keep reading about how vague NCLEX questions are I was hoping someone could make up an example of a "vague" question or at least provide a little more insight. I would greatly appreciate it!

Classes begin January 25 with mandatory orientation and CPR training the week before.

Of of course there's time to finish the requirements. They wouldn't accept anyone without giving them allowed time. Our advisors place us in our classes, we have no choice so there's no worry about that. The health clearance forms take no time at all to complete. Have no fear! :)

My advisor is (MODERATOR EDIT OF NAME). And yeah...those health forms! I have them all completed except the titers. Fun times. :)

For those asking about the schedule... I got my spring schedule and classes are distributed M-F. Morning class Monday, morning class Tuesday, afternoon class on Wednesdays, Thursdays: clinicals starting in Feb (every other week) 7:30-3:30 and stimulations (every other week) 8:00-1:00. I have been placed at a hospital in Brooklyn. Morning class and an afternoon class on Fridays. I have come across a few nurses around NYC and all have said they really like NYU's nursing program and have heard great things about it. The administration at NYU has been helpful and I really like my advisor. There are weekly Newsletters sent out and the administrative staff seems to care (just based off of past emails sent). There have been many opportunities for nurses to give feedback and talk about possible changes for the better in the program.

So I applied for Fall 2015 admissions last spring. I had to complete the 2 prereqs at NYU this fall and they accepted me into the program for Spring 2016. I'm assuming if you were accepted and you completed the 2 prereqs this upcoming spring, you will start next fall.

I am wondering the same thing! The cost is ridiculous if I may add.

I tried a couple days ago. I clicked on everything and all I got was a notice saying I can't view anything. Albert did say starting the beginning of May we should hear back. You can always call the admissions office in you're curious to know when we should hear back but we have to stay hopeful!

It depends on what kind of test taker you are and how fast you can answer certain questions. To me it was not a piece of cake and DO take your time. Do not rush. Some sections are easier for others, some are not.

Hi everyone. I am keeping my options open and was wondering if I could get some more information on the process of being a Navy Nurse. I will be a Junior this fall and have everything ready to transfer into a BSN program. So a few questions... 1) Would I join the Navy, they put me through nursing school and then I work for them for a minimum of 3 years, etc once I attain my BSN? 2) Would I have to go through any intense training-like their 7 week program in Illinois? Any other advice is greatly appreciated. I at a loss for how this entire process goes.

I personally did: Anatomy then microbiology then chemistry then physiology. If I could go back in time I would have completed anatomy and then physiology the following semester. There was nothing from microbiology that prepared me for physiology. I know students that completed both microbiology and physiology and it is a struggle, especially since the concepts don't exactly overlap. Of course determination and lots of hard work is all you need and I'm sure you'll do fine. If you can though I would wait to take microbiology after physiology. Good luck!
