Rutgers University CRNA 2023
I submitted my app 6/1 but my LORs weren't in until July and I had some updated documents that I sent 7/1. I would be surprised if they send out more invites to interview, the signups are almost completely full and there are almost 90 interviews for 24 slots (assuming same size cohort as past several years). In previous years it looks like Rutgers didn't really update the application portal, this year will probably be the same.

How long to get physical license?
I appreciate the responses. Like I said previously, my job was able to confirm that I had an active license with my license number, but they still wanted the paper license before I start. In case anyone else has the same question in the future: I received my license in the mail today, exactly two weeks after getting my license number. So for the NJ BON, it takes about two weeks to receive your license in the mail.

How long to get physical license?
I do have a license number (and have already sent it to HR). They still want the physical license by the middle of next month, so mostly I was wondering how long I should give the BON before I show up in person to annoy them :)

How long to get physical license?
I passed the NCLEX and my license number went up on the BON site earlier this week My job needs me to bring a paper copy of my license to HR. When do I get the paper license? Does it come in the mail? Thanks so much!

NJ/NY/CT accelerated nursing 2016
you might want to look at hunter college and SUNY downstate, they both have accelerated programs and will have instate tuition for NY residents.

Rutgers Accelerated Nursing- Fall 2015 (Newark)
congrats :) the fulltime program varies a little in terms of how courses are spread out from semester to semester. for our level 1, we had two to three lectures on tuesday (from 8am onwards), two lectures on wednesday (also from 8am on), a clinical day (practice lab starts at 8am, hospital starts at 630), and health assessment lab, which was split into 2 groups, wednesday and thursday. basically, you spend either two full days OR one full day and two half days on campus, and then one full day in clinical. chances are you'll also be spending a lot of time studying somewhere quiet, possibly on campus or at a public library/coffeeshop/whatever works for you -- just because you're not in class doesn't mean you're not doing work. some classes are hybrid (partially/mostly online), so that class won't meet every week but you'll still have work to do and deadlines to meet. so even if you're only "in school" for 20 hours in a given week, you'll easily being doing another 20 hours of studying and care plans in that same week. we did not get our official schedules until like 1 or 2 weeks before school started, just as a heads up. probably the hardest part of this program so far has been time management, and dealing with the stress of having one exam after another every week.

WHOA MINE WENT TO SPAM TOO i am not apologizing for all caps because if you were in the room with me i would literally be yelling at the top of my lungs. rutgers! how do you do this! anyway this serves as a reminder to anyone using gmail that 'all mail' does not show spam... i'm in, though i'm not 100% sure if i'm going to accept. deposit's due 7/20 and no mention of when orientation would be (presumably in august? hopefully, uh, before classes start?)

jess674, as of yesterday they were "hoping" for the end of this month, and to be honest they did not sound very optimistic

Rutgers Accelerated Nursing- Fall 2015 (Newark)
I assumed they pushed the deadline back so far to get as many apps as possible. I remember talking with admissions several months ago and I asked about how many applicants they receive/how many they accept; I can't remember the exact details but I think they were accepting about 60 per campus, and they got 120 apps for each campus. (Obviously this didn't happen last semester, since there was no NB class, but let's say that it's generally true.) That would be a total of 240 apps, and if they extended the deadline to get more applicants who had finished their pre-reqs, it could definitely get up to about 300. Because it's a pretty small number (in the grand scheme of schools and applicants), it could easily fluctuate from year to year and semester to semester, as well. It may also be that the fall semester is a more popular time to start than the spring semester. I assume they did this instead of the de-facto rolling admissions in order to choose the most qualified from the whole group at once. I don't know that it's going to work out the way they want, since so many other schools have already required deposits and orientation, etc.

I'm really on the fence here. NJCU has orientation next week! When I called RUSN admissions, they were like "we have 300 apps, we're doing the best we can"... ugh

Nursing loans really that bad? 120K
there are multiple state schools both in NYC and the surrounding metro area that are less than 35K for an accelerated BSN. these include hunter college, suny downstate, rutgers, and njcu. many of these programs are very competitive, and i've heard many of them are a lot more competitive to get into than NYU, precisely because they are a much better deal.

HELP: How Extensive Are Hiring Background Checks?
i thought about this and then considered that if i wanted to ask a similar question legitimately, i would absolutely create a throwaway account... and certainly she wouldn't be the first person in any career to cam (or dance, or whatever) her way through school, yeah?

HELP: How Extensive Are Hiring Background Checks?
hmm it seems like the OP's question is not whether employers will be okay with it, but rather whether this is the sort of thing that will show up on a background check. it seems pretty obvious the OP isn't about to list it on her resume or as past employment. some quick googling suggests that it is possible for an employment background check to determine all previous employers, but that most employers do not bother doing such a rigorous search, and instead stick to confirming that the jobs you did list are accurate. i don't know where hospitals fall in this spectrum of rigor in background searches, and it may vary from employer to employer.

NJCU ABSN 2015
I called NJCU yesterday to see if they received my acceptance & deposit for JC since I hadn't heard from them and the person who answered was like "Oh I don't know if [person we were told to send everything to] has that information... and she's out until the end of the month on vacation." :/
