It was tough and I worked my butt off, but it was great to be done in a year. I felt prepared for the NCLEX (after I took it). I really liked most of the teachers. Even though it was overwhelming, it was worth it.

I was super nervous when I started. I prepared the best I could and worked hard. I run on the anxious side, so I did lose my sanity a bit at times. Especially in Adult 1 clinical. I had zero hospital experience so it was all new to me. If you like the fast pace, this is the program for you!! And if I can make it through without totally losing my sanity, you can too!:-)

I just graduated in December from the program. It was very intense, but so worthwhile! I liked almost all my teachers. I worked my butt off and did well. I passed the NCLEX in January in 75 questions. It was a little rough at times with all the tests, papers, and the fast timeline, but when it was over, it was over. And now, I almost miss it! (I made some really good friends) I enjoyed the smaller class size, the head teacher overseeing the program, and having classes off the main campus. Plus, Fairhope is pretty cool.

Our school makes us use ATI too and we had to buy Virtual ATI our last semester. Since we had already bought it I used it to study for NCLEX. I did all the modules and some extra assessments in the tutorial section of ATI. I made an 88% on my RN predictor and had a 99% prediction to pass the NCLEX the first time. I worked hard in school, graduated in Dec.2015 with highest honors, and took the NCLEX January 2016. The computer shut off at 75 questions. I found out the next day my license had been posted with our states license lookup. I write this because, I was wondering if VATI helped, hurt, or was a waste of time before the NCLEX, but it worked fine for me. I put a lot of effort into school and studying though. You've got to have that knowledge base and then you can work on how to answer all those crazy questions. Oh, and I had a bunch of SATA and priority questions, but the test is different for everyone. I just finished the accelerated BSN program at South Alabama. It WAS an intense year, but so worth it now that it's done. I loved the main teacher, she is a really good teacher. Learned so much. Miss my classmates now. Can't wait to start for real nursing! You all can do it!!! I remember feeling lost before it all started. They weren't good about giving out information, but once it all started, it wasn't so bad.

futurenaijaRN, did you get a call today? I was called today, but I am supposed to have my phone interview tomorrow. Did they tell you on the phone that you were waitlisted?

Great! I'm definitely into teamwork. I'd love to know more if I make it into the program and I really appreciate being able to ask you questions. When I called the college of nursing, they said they would send letters out at the beginning of October, but that was a couple weeks ago. I'll let you know if I make it or not.

Thanks for responding! I'm actually a "mature" student (that's the nice way of saying old). I live in the area already and this is the only school I applied to. Is there anything else you would recommend in order to prepare for this program? Any survival tips?

Has anyone applied to South Alabama's accelerated BSN program to start Spring 2015? I have heard it takes 6-8 weeks to hear anything. Does anyone know if the school is on track to let us know if we made it or not? Does anyone have any information about the interviews? Thanks!
