CGFNS CVS for NY State: STAGNANT
Hi Smargadine, I'm in a CGFNS-CVS NY dilemma right now. The school did nOT send my transcript within the 180 days allotted time. Now my CGFNS-CVS order status is "Ready for Submission". What happens that my papers were sent to NY State without transcript? Does this end all my chances of working as an RN in NY? Please reply, anxious and need help.....Thanks so much

Doctors Without Borders Interview
Oh my gosh! It's my dream to work for MSF. How many years do you have to work as a nurse to be considered for MSF? My dad is a doctor and does anesthesia volunteer work for MSF. He said MSF is competitive and you have to work as a medical professional for a very long time....how long is "very long" exactly? Is speaking French a bonus? I can speak French.

A.) I'm speaking only from my own experience when I applied to New Jersey. I never did a photo ID card. It wasn't a requirement. B.) Yes, your request for academic records will be filled out by your school registrar's and signed by the Dean of Nursing at your school. Be sure they have a school seal, that's what the CGFNS requires. They will be the ones to mail it to CGFNS. I gave the school $100 so they can mail it via Fed-EX. C.) I am totally clueless about PRC. I think that's what you do. But being an American citizen I was never allowed to take any Philippine licensure exams, even when I finished my first professional degree (doctor of medicine in the Philippines). I just wrote a letter to CGFNS that I am legally not allowed to take licensure exams in the Phils. and they said it was okay, they waived the requirement. Hopefully this answers all your questions. :) If you have more, just keep asking. I'll do my best to answer them. I know these things are annoying and causes anxiety to fill out. I am doing another one as well for the CGFNS CVS-NY. I plan on having NJ and NY nursing licenses.

For me, I just put 1 year (even without work experience) since it doesn't allow you to leave it box blank or put "zero" years. It wasn't a big deal and CGFNS gave me a copy of my CES report issue and forwarded the CES report issue to my state board of nursing.

TOEFL Exam for foreign nursing grads
I think you will have to take the TOEFL. I had to take TOEFL for New Jersey BON. They said it is a rule being a graduate of a foreign nursing school despite the fact that English is my native language. I was insulted by this considering I am an American citizen, educated in the United States from elementary school, middle school, high school and 4 years at a university. I only went to the Philippines to pick up a quick nursing BSN degree. But don't worry, the test is super easy. I took it and got perfect scores. No need to study at all! Although waste of time and money, that is all.

Afghani MD now a PA and NP
Hi everyone/anyone, I am sort of the same situation as well. I am a foreign-educated MD who failed the USMLE (US Medical Licensure Exam). Since my dreams as a doctor went kaput, I decided to go into nursing. I now have an RN degree and passed the NCLEX. I plan to work as an RN for a year and then go into grad school to get my nurse practitioner degree. I am now doing my nursing resume. When looking for entry level RN jobs, is it advisable to hide the fact that I have a MD degree on my resume? Should I NOT put my MD degree under education since it will reflect badly on me. Please respond promptly. Seeking advice :)

MD to RN
Hello Everyone/Anyone, I am new in this forum. I have a quick question to ask. I graduated from medical school in a foreign country and had a difficult time passing the USMLE (United States Medical Licensure Exam). Since my dreams as a doctor failed, I decided to take up nursing and got my nursing diploma. I am now an RN and passed the NCLEX. When looking for a job and writing my resume, do I hide the fact that I have an MD degree? Will it reflect badly on me that I am in essence a failed doctor? Is it best not put that MD degree on my resume as part of my education? Desperately seeking advice. Thanks so much.
