Hello everyone, and thanks to nicholein. Never knew I could find students like me here. I start clinicals in the fall, hope to love it.

Adult CNS-EXAM
I think you can also use the NP review products, so far we've been taking same courses. Its only clinicals that will be different. Goodluck and keep in touch.

how important are reference letters?
Hi Laurabs24, where you able to get your references sorted out. I am in the same dilema right now. I will be applying to a ANP program and need references from 2 practicing ANP. I know no ANP. I dont know what to do for now.

CNS! Is this a Dying Specialty!?
I'm not working yet, I'm still in school. actually 2nd year, and I really need some encouragement from you guys, even though I respect the fact that you must tell the truth the way it is out there in terms of jobs.

CNS! Is this a Dying Specialty!?
I just looked at the link you pasted. The research article abstract is all I could read, and I'll say its already 'biased' from just the abstract. Its also dated 1996, thats too old. Not enough to base a jugdement on.

CNS! Is this a Dying Specialty!?
Can you tell me a Masters degree that really really focuses on "Nursing"? Is there any?

CNS! Is this a Dying Specialty!?
TramaRUs, you may be right but if you look into schools, more credits have been added to the CNS curriculum. In the job market it might not be competitive as the NP, just like the Nursing Education is not. Some states dont hire CNS, fine, but some states still do. I just think Nursing body as a whole is missing the point of nursing especially ANCC. CNS will be for a long time.

CNS! Is this a Dying Specialty!?
We should be encouraging CNS. Everything is not about NPs and their roles. Who will we have let developing "nursing", I thought the CNS role was geared towards "nursing", its saddening.

CNS! Is this a Dying Specialty!?
I completely disagree!!!

Adult CNS-EXAM
Sorry about that. But its not the end of the world. People fall and rise again. It's your turn to rise again. I feel you.

Calling a Patient 'Sugar': Abuse?
The nurses and aides gran-mothered into nursing homes love love love to use those sugar, honey, sweetie words and it is so so so so annoying and disgusting. When I was a new grad and oriented into a nursing home, I felt like telling them to stop calling residents by those names and giving them pecks and kisses like they were their kids at home. Well I never did till I left the place 6 weeks later but I was happy I left.

CNS! Is this a Dying Specialty!?
These shows how much nursing needs a real DEFINITION through all the refinemnt over the years:idea:

CNS! Is this a Dying Specialty!?
To reply Irish rainbow I would simply tell you that there is no focus that is WRONG TRACK, search your mind very well and decide on what you want to do and be informed. ....and I personally dont think there is a perfect track that fulfills your dream as a nurse especially as all roles are not well defined right now(interms of job responsibilities). Goodluck in your advancement.

CNS! Is this a Dying Specialty!?
I am a happy CNS student, starting my 2nd yr this fall and I love it. There might not be much job openings compared to the NPs but I know I'll find great happiness in my CNS role.

Adult CNS-EXAM
I think there should be more CNS exam perp books just like the NPs have. It makes me think CNS's are giving up on CNS.

DNP the new PhD
Not that I do, but if DNP is all about teaching then why would a bedside nurse want to be one. I mean a bedside nurse who wants to become an NP, CNS for improvement in patient care.
