I try to use the pressure bag in emergent situations. A pump running at 999cc/hr will take one hour to infuse one litre and I usually want a bolus to infuse faster than that. A pressure bag pumped up to 300 mmHg usually can infuse a litre bag in about 15 min.

Yes. It made be a difficult road but Unions are excellent and protecting workers. They are not perfect but made things like job stability, wages, work hours and work schedules much more fair. Beware that employers do not like unions and will do anything to prevent them from coming in.

Time to look for another job. I LOVE my job. What an amazing career I have had! Please go find that.... It IS out there.

I agree with both comments. You are the expert on your patient and be available to answer any questions an help plan and carry out the rescucitation. I would say that it is VERY inportant that you deligate taks to the many others in the room. Be available for conversation and small tasks. I usually delegate difficult tasks to others as I want to be on top of everything.

Awareness and education is sometimes the key to changing attitudes. Great suggestions above:yes:, run inservices (and bring candy) to inform everyone of the plan and rationale.

As Nurses we are harder on ourselves than ayone else it. That is our nature to protect people and make sure they are safe. You just cannot control what others do. Patients will do ANYTHING to pull a tube that is irritating them. It happens to eveyone. Don't be so hard on yourself :)
