NYP Pharm Exam
Hey Guys, I got a 98 on my exam when I took it to get into NYP last year (2015) and thought I'd share this with a few of you, but promise while reading this that you actually UNDERSTAND and not just memorize this.... but I remember how afraid I was so here are the notes I took before taking the exam. also the medications in particular I wrote A LOT but only paid attention to the most important things with each of those medications (ex: Heparin/bleeding, Analgesics/respiratory depression etc etc) Hope this helps people! Heard the same thing! Cola/Dr Pepper - never actually tried it though but a more experienced nurse told me she had done it plenty of times....

Accepted job at NYP-Cornell!
I have not even checked to be honest if the status changed! It took them 3 days to get back to me. Apparently I'm supposed to start next week though- onboarding is taking very long I told them I needed two weeks notice for my other job .... And they still haven't gotten back ... I may have to ask to start at a later date :-/ did not want to give my notice without the official offer.

New to the SICU...
SO.... I just got a new job in the SICU that starts in about two weeks.... I did work on a CCU for about 8 months... but my old hospital was trying to compete with another hospital and lots of major shifts started happening after i was done a long orientation (which was a lot of classes)....my hospital started sending all of its sickest patients to another hospital in the system close by.... they even downsized the beds we used on our unit and started asking me where I would like to go if transferred to the other hospital.... i felt like my position was in jeoporady and my unit was becoming a glorified telemetry unit without me even getting my feet wet.... anyways thats why I started applying elsewhere.... then i landed this position in the SICU at an AMAZING hospital, which I'm extremely excited about but I'm nervous because I do have some "experience"... which the nurse manager said she wanted as she "doesn't hire new grads" .... I did tell them about the downsizing stuff which is why i was looking but didn't DELVE into all the issues above.... but I was a brand new nurse when I was hired onto the CCU.... and still honestly feel pretty brand new with SO SO much to learn .... What recommendations do you guys have about starting over again into a brand new SICU... PS: I will get a 6-8 week orientation I was told that would be tailored to my needs (aka extended if needed).

Applying for nursing reciprocity in FL
Hello, as I have the same infraction from NY i would really like to know how this process went.... i want to get licensed in other states, but am dreading the fact of having to go get all the paperwork etc.... as they have the court documents/arrest documents all stored in other places since it happened such a long time ago.. also i'm afraid to apply if i think they will say no because then you have to report to other states when you get denied... PS did you have an easy time getting all the court documents from NY? thanks for the info in advance!

Does being a Travel Nurse REALLY put more money in your pocket???
This is a little off topic but- I never knew it was possible to be a travel nurse and only licensed in 2 states? I currently am licensed in two states and about to be licensed in another - so I could still potentially do travel nursing if not licensed in TONS of states??

Least Favorite Things Patients Say
When they ask you a BILLION questions that really only the doctor should be answering... then rounds come, and the doctor says, "Any questions?" And the patient goes... "no."

Accepted job at NYP-Cornell!
Hi guys i came across this post as I am going through an interview process as we speak - I applied to MANY jobs saying 1 year preferred - but put on the application process 6mo- 1 yr because i got my first job last oct 2014 and only had 10/11 months experience. I got rejected from every position automatically BUT I thought you should all know, I was still contacted my an NYP talent specialist whom talked about my interests/ etc, and was placed to go to an invite only interview event for experienced nurses. This woman said that she still thought I deserved a chance and I was so close to a year that it did not matter. So, in my opinion I think it is worth it to apply even if you automatically get rejected because she was aware of my rejections.
