  1. I am looking for information on Maryville University's online FNP program. I am hoping to hear from some graduates and current student about their experiences. I am applying for Summer 18.

I would like to suggest working in a correctional facility as a NP. I this setting you will have the opportunity to work with inmates with chronic care. The inmates have many disease process you may never see in the community. Just a thought.
  3. Short anwser... YES you need to register. You will not be able to apply for goverment jobs and may be fined.
  4. I am in the last year of my BSN program and am thinking about grad school. I was a paramedic for 20 years before nursing. I am thinking about becoming an NP but unsure of my focus. Thanks for the great information.
  5. Stop blaming others for your failure to find a job. Start looking at what you can do to improve yourself and make you a best choice for the next job interview. Just a thought....
  6. Can anyone explain why there is a shortage???
  7. Wow! Thank you all for your positive input. I agree I can’t change my age but I can change how I work. I am going to go for it. I am going to look into working for Indian Health Service as it seem to have a great need nationally. I may be able to get full reimbursement of my tuition if I play my cards right. Onward and upwards to all thanks again.
  8. I am looking for information regarding starting the nurse practitioner program (FNP). I am 1 year from completing my BSN and have 9 years nursing experience and 15 years as a paramedic. I have just turned 52 years old and planning on working past 65 years old. I am concerned that I will not be able to justify the student loans debt with the increase in salary. I currently make about 68K and believe I will need to make min 90K to cover the cost of school and make a difference in my lifestyle. What are your thoughts? Thanks
  9. I have been a nurse for 9 years and 2 years in corrections. I love working in correction as no two days are the same it a cross between emergency nursing and clinic nursing. We do lots of chronic care and make a difference in lives. Most of inmates have not any medical care for the better part of their adult life. Yes, correction can be stressful and dangerous at time however, I love it. I will caution you to learn to remind yourself who you are working with daily. I wish you well and good luck with your new job
