2020 NHSC Loan Repayment Program
I got the NHSC Rural Community LRP. My contract got cosigned today! FNP Third year trying for NHSC LRP site score 21. I had credit checks before but never anything further. I did get my suboxone waiver this year to try to boost my odds (although not prescribing currently) Keep trying. Read all the details about the funding priorities specific to the lrp you are applying to- there may be something in there you can do to boost your chances! I am so excited. Good luck to everyone.

2020 NHSC Loan Repayment Program
I got a finalist letter today! NHSC Rural Community Loan. I applied back in February as soon as the application cycle opened. Had a credit check in April, got an email from them last week wanting me to give them current loan payoff amounts. This is my third time applying. Good luck everybody!

2019 Nurse Corps Loan Repayment Program
nope, she is a counselor and it was for the rural community lrp. I am the FNP that told her about the program and I am still under review! Joking- she deserves it too, but it is a reminder that there are also other disciplines that may be eligible for some of this funding too. So who knows, I don't thinks there is any way to predict their patterns of distributing awards at this point..... but they are still making offers.

2019 Nurse Corps Loan Repayment Program
so this was my third year applying for the nhsc and the only year i even got a credit check. Never really expected to get it because of our hpsa score which puts me in tier 2. I didn't initially apply for the RCLRP because of some of the SUD wording in the app but did find out that I was eligible and should be tier 1 because we are an RCORP Consortium member. I got the app in on the last day and a credit check two days later. Got an email from them last Friday wanting my 30 day student loan payoff amounts and that is the last I heard. I did try to call them a few days ago because I am having so much dang anxiety about the whole process but......... Still under review.......

I don't think you're eligible for the public service loan repayment until you have been in a position for 10 years? I know that the rules are very strict regarding what type of loans you have , etc. and have had friends that worked in public service for the required amount of time and then were not able to access the funds. So do your research.

2019 Nurse Corps Loan Repayment Program
FNP here. Applied for NHSC loan repayment and the Rural Community Loan repayment, too. Had credit checked back in April (i think) for the first one. The apps for the rural were open until the 18th and I just got a credit check for that one. I think I would be much more likely to get the rural community loan based on my numbers, and tier etc. Anyone else apply for that one? Geez I hope this happens for all of us!

Accepted a job offer, now not sure.
I graduated in May with my FNP and have interviewed for 4 or 5 positions. I got a job offer this week and was given 24 hours to make a decision due to their hurry to fill the position. I accepted despite some lingering doubts related to benefits. Pay is a little better than I expected but couldn't afford the health insurance (will switch to husbands plan), No CME, and not as much time off as I am used to. I tried to negotiate but they wouldn't and instead gave me a small sign on bonus. Let me say, I really like the doc, think he would be great to learn from for my first position, it is seems like a pretty laid back place to start, minimal on call, and it is in my area of interest. So less than 16 hours later, I got one job offer( from a retail clinic that I turned down) and another call to interview for a job I really wanted with a practice in town (better pay, benefits, etc. but probably more call). I feel like I could probably get this job as I have been communicating with the doc through a mutual friend... just waiting for them to officially add the position. So, how horrible would it be if I rescinded my acceptance of the first job? I know that I need to do what is best for me but I really don't want to burn any bridges. It is crazy that after hearing nothing about these other positions for a couple of months, they both call less than a day after I accept a position. Has this happened to anyone else and what do you think?

Eastern Kentucky University Spring 2016 FNP
I have two semesters left and I am still working full time. It is stressful but can be done. No on campus visits so no skills bootcamp. There is one locally that I am planning on attending near the end of my last semester. You will get to learn some procedures in your clinicals. Now, the most important thing....START FINDING YOUR CLINICAL PLACEMENTS RIGHT NOW! For me this has been the most difficult and stressful part of the program. I have had a good experience with the program and I feel well prepared for my clinicals. Good luck to you.

EKU MSN
I am starting my second year in the FNP program at EKU. I started Aug 13 and should be done in May of 16. The application process is pretty straight forward. Make sure that you have good references and that you fully answer the questions when writing your admissions essay. I have been working 40+ hours weekly so far. I am planning on cutting back after this semester to 2 or 3 12 hour shifts per week. Some classes have been more rigorous than others. I have to spend probably around 20 hours a week studying on average. All of my clinicals will be in the last year of my program. You are responsible for finding your own preceptors- which has been pretty stressful. You can work with NPs or Docs. Hope this helps. Good luck.

I'm at EKU, too. Starting my fourth semester! We must have been in the same patho class.

RN Experience helpful to aspiring APRN
I am about halfway through my FNP program. I have been a nurse for about 20 years and most of my experience is in pediatrics, particularly medically fragile and technology dependent children. Although I have always kept a prn job working with adults I am starting to wonder if I have limited myself for opportunities when I graduate. I am considering going to work on a med-surg floor during the last year of school to refresh my adult skills. Do you think it will make a difference when I am ready to look for an APRN job? I don't especially want to leave my current job but I want to prepare myself for the future. Any advice?
