Hi I too just graduated June 15th and waiting on my attached in Florida. None of my classmates got a date yet but we are going crazy I want to buy the ncsbn how is it? Do you feel like it helps? Im so afraid to fail I scored a 96 percent on ati comprehensive but that was a month ago so things are starting to get blurry. Acen auto correct messed me up . What I was trying to write was trying to write was that I believe here in Florida and from what I've seen at the colleges in my area if your school isn't accredited Acen or otherwise you will have trouble going back for your rn not saying it's impossible bc you can go to private colleges. Also far as jobs if your school doesn't have accreditation it will be hard to work bc it's like your licenses is not backed up.

From my understanding if they aren't ACENTRAL accredited you can't bridge into RN at a public university , Atlanta Least that's how it is here in Florida

That's great! I gradiate in may so I'm excited. Go look at kaplan nclex pn review and nclex pn apps they are helping me alot in the program and personally I think it will help in the big nclex

At some schools they don't use proctors or have too many students to the one proctor. Mainly trade schools that don't regulate testing. When I took my test the instructor told us he was down the hall and to let him know when you were done. I asked about what to do when you had to use the bathroom and he replied just go. Smh it's crazy because I worked and studied hard and so did friends who didn't get in for score not high enough

I feel you my program hasn't even started yet but I met a couple of girls who told me they cheated on the TEAS and made a 89 which is high considering that for LPN you only needed a 50. This pissed me off because I studied hard to get my score and these people cheat not to mention the people who studied and didn't score no where near that and where rejected

I'm super excited I start my program in August since o already had a CNA license. I'm going to ctae Ocala or Marion county tech. I'm really nervous and excited all at once anyone have any ideas or any advice? Anyone starting soon?

I'm a pca in a rehab hospital in Florida and make 14 per hour we cap at about 16 . I start my LPN in August and its 32 hours a week. Our state pays about 24 on average

Just got accepted into ctae I'm so excited and nervous. And I have been wondering what it will be like. From the classes to clinical. Should I work or not and should I buy supplies or wait to until classes start

First let me say I've gotta work in the am so if I don't respond its bc I've fallen asleep. So I'm trying to get into the L.P.N program at ctae in Ocala Florida. Today I completed the last step which was the dreaded TEAS test. I scored a 56.7 and the program requires you to have a 50. They acceptance students on a first come first serve basis from what I'm understanding. So my question is,should I go ahead and turn my application in or wait until the 7th to retake the TEAS and strengthen my scores? Also at the information session last night I asked the program director about what type of scores they wanted to see, and she said that she had seen alot of 50s and wanted to see some 55s or better.

I was simply stating what I feel since the situation happened not saying anyone said anything about shutting up. Maybe I didn't make it clear in my post and I apologize. I don't feel like I have a chip about being a CNA bc frankly I loved it prior to working here. But at the current position I am in its not a great job. Minimum patient interaction, minimum use of CNA skills that coupled with not receiving breaks when requested or asking for relief to use the bathroom and waiting for an hours has made me a bit salty as it would anyone. Add that to the rules of no cellphone(which I completely understand) books or watching TV if the patient is a sleep is enough to make anyone go insane especially doing this 3 days a week for 12 hours straight.

Probably was but they've opened 4 in Gainesville 2 in Jacksonville 1 in lake city 1 in Orlando along with building two more in Gainesville so they've grown quite a bit in the last 5 or so years. They're also voted #3 which is why I wanted to work there. I guess it just the department I'm in we staff the hospital so I have no permanent floor and when I took the job it was descw to me as working on the floors staffing where they are short as a CNA not a sitter. I personally hate sitting and have been doing it for two years. I've brought this up to my supervisor and was told lines change. Whatever that means. I've been applying to other positions but since I am a CNA and not pca they don't want to hire me.

Also maybe I should clarify that I was not sitting with the patient who stated the light needs to be turned off. I was sitting with another patient in the room. (You know double rooms) who was on a marchman act. I simply wanted to know was I wrong in saying something... . . . . . PP explained it to me in depth and allowed me to see the other side of this. In other words if a nurse tells you to do something do it no matter if it's your job or not.No matter if the patient who you are watching is on Baker act and they're asking you to care for a patient who is all the way across the room. If you don't like it go to school and be more than what you are put plain and simple. Won't happen again.

You don't have to believe it. And I can't see someone coming here to make up a story like that i m a student mom and wife no time on my hands to do that

Thanks everyone for the advice Shands is the biggest hospital in the south so working here is a big deal but with every big corporations there are bigger problems. They hire cnas but depending on what position you get is the deciding factor of if your a sitter or pca its all about lines and pay grades due to my pay grade I can't do certain things even though I know how the only thing I'm allowed to do is sit and take vital signs. All though now I see it from the other point of view I wish I would have handled it differently but I also feel she could have said it differently as well. Especially in from of a patient because they constantly ask what is the difference . I wish they would get rid of the CNA pca title because it cause alot of rift in the field

so today at work I had to sit or observe as shands likes to call it. anywho as I was sitting with my patient the medical team and charge nurse came in to do a patient consult upon leaving out the patient stated to them you should've at least turned out the light so the dr turned around to turn the light out when the charge nurse stated oh she can do it shes a cna and I was like exscuse me she then said I said your a cna so your capable of turning off a light I then said well that was quite rude she then said I don't think so. I don't know if im overreacting but its crazy bc at shands cnas are the bottom of the barrel while pcas which is the same thing are treated like royalty so when she said that I got on the defensive was I wrong

For me its more of income stability while in nusing school I can't afford to live 2-4 years off of CNA pay at part or prn time. I have a family to provide for so becoming an LPN the doing the bridge will allow me to work less make a good living and still keep the lights on. Is it a longer process I don't think so but of it is i ll do what I have to
