  1. i have a question for all nurses who do med pass in the correctional setting. do you sign your mar daily, during the med pass, or at the end of the month. i am asking due to my current administrator has told the nurses to make sure the mar is being signed by the end of the month. that it is not necessary to sign it during the actual med pass. now to me this goes against the board of nursing but i am wondering is there a different standard for correctional nursing?
  2. You have done nothing wrong. First, the Charge should have never left you on your own. You are doing the right thing at this point. Take some time, get yourself together, and then go back when you feel ready.
  3. here is the best scenario, first go to work for the cardiologist after first finding out what it is like working in his office. always make sure it is a good place to work. second, go per diem at the hospital. keeps your skills up with this. win win.
  4. first, start looking for a job, because there are plenty of places that would love to hire an RN who has tech skills
  5. I have heard of quite a few hospitals doing this now..
  6. Never ever post your place of employment. Plus do not post about work. Mainly because there are some companies that have a continuous search engine looking for postings with their name in it. Or looking for what you post. I have heard of three nurses in the last three months be terminated or reprimanded due to a Facebook post.

I have always counted total instruments prior to a case. An open cavity, any area where the instruments can be placed inside the body, abdomen, chest, but also hip and shoulders. Too many lawsuits where something including instruments were found near a shoulder or hip. Also all laps the instruments are counted. I have never based any count on weight. So why is it this place does not count? I do not understand their rational at all. Can you tell me, do you count prior to total hip or shoulders? And by count I mean a total not individual

Currently working in an or where the techs refuse to count instruments. Stating we don't count instruments because it is not necessary.. Can anyone tell me, is this correct where you work? I am an old nurse who has always counted instruments before and after every case, along with laps, raytex, sharps, etc.
