Nipissing RPN to BScN blended program
Is anyone still in this thread...? I applied for Sept 2018, just wondering if anyone has heard back this year or in previous years when do they start releasing the decisions?

RPNs in nephrology?
I don't know much about it personally, but I met another RPN out and about just by chance one day and she said demand is rising for RPNs in nephrology. I've also spoken to a couple nurses at work who say the dialysis units are quite physically and mentally heavy and pts can be unpleasant (of course due to their condition).

Nipissing RPN to BScN blended program
Anyone know if my unit Nurse Educator can provide the Support letter? I think she knows me best.

RPN preceptor
Actually Many of my classmates who had their consolidation in hospital had RN preceptors. I was lucky to have an RPN at the time but I'm now following RNs in my NGG job. It doesn't seem like they allow the RPNs here to be preceptors at least not on my unit

New Grad in Toronto Cannot find job
Make sure you look elsewhere other than Toronto, things are pretty dry here. I'm nearing the end of my new grad and have only received one response after applying for many internal postings. In addition I've heard from my preceptors that it's hard to get into Toronto hospitals because once people get in, they don't leave, and it's hard for new nurses to get a foot in the door. Of course this is subjective. DO seek career assistance from the RPNAO, the counsellor there is really helpful when it comes to fixing you resume.

RPN to BScN Bridging 2017
Call Them. Same thing when I applied to Centennial and george brown. It said requirements not met, when I definitely did. Soon as I called them, a couple days later I Received acceptance Maybe it was just a coincidence but it can't hurt to push the process along.

RPN to RN Bridging program advice
I looked at UIOT but I live in Toronto and work in Richmond Hill, I didn't want to have to travel to Oshawa on top of that. It looks like the deadline has passed anyway. As an alternative if Cent/GBC don't work I was looking at Nipissing's program as well, I think they're partnered with my hospital.

I'm also looking for info on the same. Which of the two has more online components? And can you transfer previous university credits over to take some of the load off?

RPN to BScN Bridging 2017
I've received offers for George Brown, and Centennial's regular and flex program. I'm trying to decide between the three I'm looking for the one that has a minimal amount of inclass time because I have no idea what my work schedule is going to be looking like... I'm in an NGG job which is ending in May and I still don't have another job lined up. I was trying to look into attending an info session or something but I can't find anything.

Centennial College: RPN Bridging to University Nursing - Flexible 9253
Hi brookiebell16, Did you apply for the Sep 2017 intake? Just wondering because I din't hear anything from them. I am also curious about if it is possible to work and attend class/placemnet at the same time. I am entirely on my own and I don't think OSAP will cover all the fees for me.

RPN to BScN program
I don't have much information since I haven't applied there, but look into Athabaska University. You can do the program from home, but you have to go to Alberta for a short placement, and you have to maintain an AB nursing license. They are more lenient when it comes to admission requirements.

How/when to start the whole job application process
Curious what school do you go to? I went to Mohawk only got 7 weeks consolidation. We finished in April, wrote CPRNE in May, licensed by the CNO in August. Start applying ASAP. Most people got jobs within a few months but it took me and a couple of my friends 7 months to find work. Start applying for things before you've graduated, and try to schmooze with the management at your consolidation, sometimes they will arrange to open a NGG position just for you when you graduate. I'm not sure if you can start applying for NGGs before you've graduated, but you can apply for regular jobs.. I am doing NGG right now, it's awesome. edit: I graduated April 2016

Non-facility nursing jobs
How about Office jobs such as insurance or patient support programs where you're answering questions over the phone.

Medication Administration Certificate- is this worth taking?
Nope, not necessary. I think it's possibly a relic from the old days when RPN education wasn't "up to snuff" so to speak, or for older nurses who are out of practice or don't have the diploma and are looking for work. I could be wrong. Either way, we don't need it. If you just graduated, medication administration and health assessment wouldve been included. If necessary, carry a copy of your lab course outlines to the interview. Your hospital will train you in venipuncture when you get the job. If you're applying and no response and wondering why, unfortunately that's just how it is right now for many of us. It took me 7 months to start working. I only had one interveiw that whole time. My group of friends found jobs same time I did. It's not easy out there

STILL can't find a job
Congratulations Frost and good luck. :)

Police check - registration new nurse
Depends where you live. If you're referring to the CNO it's the Clearance Letter that you need. This is about $20 with Toronto Police Service. Once you find a job the employer may request the Vulerable Sector Check which is $60.

STILL can't find a job
Hi, can you please PM me with the name/contact info of the service you used for your resume? I have a feeling I will have trouble finding work when my Hfo job ends

STILL can't find a job
My best friend went through similar in another HCP field. Sent out tons of local applications, no responses, then took a chance on an Alberta position and was interviewed and offered the position within less than a week. Personally I graduated from RPN same time as you and did not get an offer until a week after my HFO expired. Today was my first day @ work. All I can say is, I know it's corny but don't give up, and if the opportunity arises to take a position elsewhere, take advantage. I have worked abroad myself (before nursing). It will be a worthwile experience trust me.
