All the nursing schools are about the same, what you need to look at are the CRNE exam pass rates for each school (last I checked, Lakehead had a really high passing rate). Other than that, it depends on whether you want to wait another year to get into a different program, as well as if you are financially able to move there. I'm planning on staying on res and driving down the 15 hours to get there. Also: I believe you wouldn't need to do any courses during the summer since you have done uni electives for the first year because it is supposed to be when you do 1.5 FCE (Full course equivalent) electives. Just got a conditional acceptance to lakehead yesssssss

When is the deadline for you to confirm your offer? I just submitted my transcripts so I'm hoping they are still going to send offers out.

I'm just curious has anyone been accepted to lakehead's compressed program? do they give out conditional offers? and are you taking it?

did you apply with conestoga/mcmaster or mohawk/mcmaster?

I applied to Lakehead's compressed program. I am pretty sure they will send out early acceptances two weeks into February. Any idea if/when they send out an admissions profile for mature students?

There is always a chance, do very well on the test.

I got into the RPN program at George Brown college with terrible marks, I'd estimate that I had a 60% average. It really depends on the admission tests at some schools as to whether you get admitted.

Great, as if being a male nurse wasn't bad enough, heh lol. Should I bother moving down to Kitchener for the transition year? I'm assuming all the clinical placements would be near the campus location, and since I live in Mississauga... Commuting would be a pain. I am going to hate having to be told this is how you research articles once again, same with AP format. Lastly what is PBL and EIDM? Thank you so much for your insight into the program, its amazing to find someone who has been there and done it.

Well to put this into perspective, when I started at GBC, we had maybe 200+ students in semester 1, over 100 of those failed or so, and we got new students from another school come in for semester 2 (about 100 from CALC), in semester 3 there was only around 90 of us, and semester 4 around 60? But some of the people did their pregrad in the summer so add about 20 to that.. The fail rate is quite high. However GBC does have like a 98% passing rate on the CPRNE for its students.

Was this Conestoga/Mcmaster? I was under the impression that you merge with the BSCN students who started in first year.

The tests were pretty easy. The biology part was like 20 mc questions that were pretty basic, the grammar part was pretty long, and the math wasn't too difficult. One bio question was like how many litres of blood are in the female body, or male body, pretty simple stuff.
