New Grad LPN getting frustrated!!!
Thank you , I know CNA experience is not nursing experience, but I know it can sometimes help depending on the type of job, because I may be required to do more hands on patient care is all. It seems that $20 and above is what a lot of people have been telling me is a good new grad LPN wage but of course thats just their experiences I guess! 😊

New Grad LPN getting frustrated!!!
I graduated in August and due to financial issues wasn't able to get licensed until December. I have been looking hard for jobs and have had 4 interviews with two of those extending job offers, but the pay is just so low. ($17 at one and $18 at the other) I know I dont have much room to be picky since I dont have actual nursing experience besides clinicals (I do have over 10yrs of CNA experience) but I feel like I deserve a little bit more than they have offered. I've been told by some seasoned nurses that I should wait it out for atleast another month but I dont want to lose out on what may be the only offers that I get. Is anybody else in the same situation or do you have any words of advice or encouragement?

PN NCLEX HELP!!
My advice is this, focus on getting the greenlight so you can take the test! The NCLEX is easier than ATI and quite frankly, its just not hard. Yes you MAY encounter a lot of SATA questions but if you do, as long as you know your content you should be able to answer the majority of them with no problem. Now if you struggled through school and are struggling to get the ATI greenlight then you definitely will need to study harder. Good luck to you though.

NCLEX-PN 12/29/15
Congratulations! Isn't GA BON great, they had my license posted in less than 24 hrs! So do you have any jobs already lined up?

Follow up on a job application
I am in the beginning stages of my job hunt myself but I would recommend that in the future if you have completed an online app, and waited up to two weeks with no response, then go in to the facility with resume in hand and ask to speak with the DON or hiring manager. Just sending it to the DON without the face to face, is about the same as doing the online app, plus if they have gone exclusively with online apps etc then they may not even look at your resume because they will assume that you didn't apply how they wanted you to, but if you are standing there in their face and talking with them they are more apt to review your resume right there and give you a brief /informal interview that may get you called for an official interview days later! Good luck though.

Taking nclex-pn next week. any advices?
If you have the online access to Saunders, just do SATA practice questions and prioritization questions. Also review fundamentals and testing strategies and you should do fine. The NCLEX is not hard, and you sound prepared so dont psych yourself out. Good luck!!!

That's funny you say that. I was waiting for my test to get harder as well, but it never did!

Passed NCLEX PN first try! Dec 2015
First off Congratulations on passing the NCLEX PN, but I am curious to know about your jobs prospects considering the fact that you are almost 5years post graduation. While I am not in your situation exactly, I did have to wait about 4months after graduation to test so I worried alot about my job prospects, so I searched a lot on AllNurses for threads from people in similar situations to give me hope honestly. Please if you can keep us posted!!!

Nclex PN. Good pop up but still anxious!
My goodness, that has to be overly nerve racking, to have to wait so long. I hope the PVT trick is accurate for you hun. I also took the NCLEX-PN on the 8th, but I'm in GA, so there is quick results, so there is no need for a PVT, thankfully for me though I didn't even have to wait and pay for quick results because the GA BON had already issued my license at 7:15am. Less than 24 hrs after I had tested! I really hope you passed though, I enjoy reading everbodys happy "I passed" posts!

Career options for LPN? Possible different career field?
Occupational health.

ATI TESING
Do the focused review. And learn how to answer questions using the nursing process, Maslow's hierarchy of needs, least invasive, urgent vs non urgent, etc and just do as much practice tests and tutorials as you can, along with reading the books.

Just took nclex-pn
I took tge NCLEX-PN yesterday morning. I felt good when I saw the blue screen after my 85 questions, because I didn't want to be there all day testing! I felt like I answered enough right. The test didn't seem hard at all, but it didn't seem super easy. It just felt like an "either you know it, or you dont" test. I found out my results this am (I passed), in less than 24hrs! GA BON is awesome! No need for PVT or quick results! I hope you passed as well Tattooed_LPN2b. 😊

Need some NCLEX-PN websites!
Well if you feel week in OB and peds, then check out their books/tests. I think the individual tests are about $35 each and thr books are about the same.....peds and ob are my weak areas too, I'm just not interested in the two!!

Need some NCLEX-PN websites!
Purchase a ATI comprehensive practice exam from ATI website. Its about $70 but it comes with a practice test A and B and its ATI so it will be similar to the test they have you take for entrance into your program. Other than that, they have a comprehensive book that is about $35.

Study tips for ATI PN Exit exam?
Saunders is nice but for the ATI predictor you should study using "ATI materials". It's an ATI test, so if you study their content and know how they test etc then you will do fine. Basically what your instructor said to do is what I did minus the focused reviews.(I just didnt have time for that!) I passed with a 99% chance of passing the NCLEX.

Nervous about NCLEX-PN
So I graduated from my PN program in August, but due to some family and financial issues, I have had to postpone my testing. I am finally going to be able to sit for the exam i December, but I feel so unprepared and scared that I may fail, since I am so far removed from nursing. Is anyone else in the same boat? Or have you been? And if so what do you feel helped or could have helped to lessen the anxiety. I've been studying on and off when I can, using Saunders, ATI, and NCLEX Mastery app, when I'm on the go. My friends tell me that the test was really easy and based off how I did in the program, they think I will pass on the first try but I just dont know. I really want to pass though, so I can obtain a job by the new year and start my career as a nurse. I feel so behind compared to my classmates. Thanks :-)

LPN looking for a change
I understand that many do want RN or higher level degree, but that is many not all. I just offered it as a suggestion before someone gives up on the field all together. I personally know many LPNs in the roles I listed and some were less experienced when they obtained the position while others were not. Its always easier when one has an RN behind their name, but again it was just a suggestion.

Won't be able to take NCLEX-PN until Nov. or Dec.....
