Please help! Cholinergic v Adrengergic
I have a quick question for you, can you please explain cholinergic and adrenergic? Im confused as two what subcategories follow? From what I took during lecture, the PNS has ACh, NE, and EP neurotransmitters. Followed by the receptors: Alpha 1 and 2, Beta 1 and 2, and dop (sometimes). And for SNS, there are no transmitters but the receptors are: Alpha 1 and 2, beta 1 and 2 and dop. Am I understanding that correctly?

PLEASE HELP! Wayne state Nursing or University of Detroit Mercy?!
Honestly, Im not sure but I think its a mixture of the two. If you're applying to Uof D, I highly suggest taking the HESI Entrance exam asap and taking it at U of D. They require specific subjects and not all the places offer the same subjects. If you take it else where and you're missing one of the subject U of D requires, they void your entire exam. And make you retake it, with all the subjects you need. Its really easy, and has a lot of basic information. As far as GPA, first they look to see if you passed the HESI Exam (they don't care about how well you do, just as long as you pass it), then they look at your cumulative GPA. Based on the GPAs, they pick their nursing students. Im sure somewhere in this process they look at your sciences but I'm not sure. If you have any questions, please let me know. Hope this helps!

Wayne state university nursing clinicals
Yeah I definitely agree, it was a lot of information but I learned so much. Now I feel better and more comfortable because I know wht exactly the program entails and what is expected from the students. oh yeah, pharm techs is a "constant moving" job. I was a pharm tech for a while, there were NO breaks.. the days always felt so long. You know yourself and what you can handle. If your boss is cool, maybe he'll let you work two or three days a week, nothing too demanding but you would still be making some money. Best of luck with what you decide!(: lol, I don't think we met either... but hopefully in august we will! Hope to see you then!(:

Wayne state university nursing clinicals
me too! Umm, I don't think I am going to work. If so, Id probably stay with my receptionist job at a nursing home. I get a lot of down time, which would be great for studying! Are you planning on working? And my name is Amani, what is yours? I met so many people at orientation, looking back now it feels like a blur lol. It was so much information at once.

Buy nursing books from School bookstore or other websites?!
Yeah books can be very costly... its ridiculous paying an arm and a leg for a book and then getting barely nothing for it when you do the book buy back. Thank you all for the great advice!! I will most definitely RENT all my books! Thanks again!(:

Student Seeking Advice, Please!
Hi! I know that for Wayne State specifically, there are private scholarships for single mothers only. It is a little pricey thought, as of right now the price for three years is almost $65,000. So far I received a decent amount of scholarships, but no where near enough to cover a 1/3 of the cost. I also applied to University of Detroit Mercy and they offer at $15,000 PER YEAR if you have above a 3.5 gpa. They also offer two transfer scholarships (that you have to apply for) that cover your FULL TUITION! I don't think it can get better than that. Take a look at the school. Im not sure what the average gap is for UDM students, but it worth a shot! Good luck.

Buy nursing books from School bookstore or other websites?!
Hi guys! So I start nursing school in the fall at Wayne State, and would like to buy my books ahead of time. If I buy used books from my university bookstore the total comes to be around $800. I looked on a few other websites (amazon, alibris, ebay, abebooks, and etc), and got my total to be max $200. Who wouldn't love to save $600 on books?! lol. My only concern is that if I get them from other websites I may not have the CD's, and access codes. Are they really that important? Would buying them from other websites, versus my school bookstore put me at a disadvantage or do you think Ill be okay? I'd love to hear your thoughts! Thanks(:

Nursing Program Question
the difference between the two of them, is that the associates is an LPN (licensed Practical Nurse) and the bachelors is a RN degree. Now a days LPNS are finding it VERY difficult to find a job, because many hospitals and nursing homes are only accepting RNs.

afraid of failing nursing!
Hi! I totally know what you mean! Nursing school is such a rigorous program and filled with so much info! I think for the most part, all universities allow you to fail a max of one class. In the beginning it will be hard adjusting and getting settled in. So time management may be key, but I think the 2nd semester and on will be much more clear! TIP!! Find a group of good students and have study groups, that is one of the most effective ways to study!! Good luck!(:

Best Stethoscope for Nursing Students
Would highly suggest looking at medisave.net, after all my searching and looking around... they had the cheapest pricing and engraving too!(:

Good hand lotion?
OMG I know exactly how you feel!! I would highly suggest shea butter or cocoa butter they work very well! Also something that I do (I have eczema) is that at night I put a bunch of lotion on my hands, rub it in a little... but for the most part leave a layer not rubbed in. Thru the night, my hands absorb the lotion... it works very well for me!

Most comfortable shoes???
Hi! I heard the dansko pros are a great pick! They are a little on the price side, but the RN i spoke to said they work wonders. She said after a 12 hr shift, she doesn't feel any pain in her back, feet, or ankles. I personally have to wear white shoes -_- and clogs are acceptable... bummer I know! Hope you find a great pair of shoes!

Any good stethoscopes out there??
Hi guys! I start nursing school in August and want to make sure I have a god stethoscope for clinicals. Ive been reading a lot of out dated posts about good stethoscopes, but was wondering if anyone recently had any good/bad experiences with stethoscopes. When researching the name Littman Mater Classic II (I believe) and Littman Cardiology Master kept coming up. Im not looking to pay too much, maybe between $50- $120 (maybe $130 at most). If you have any great websites that have good deals, please let me know! I would love to hear your guys thoughts! Thank you!(:

Wayne State advice??
Hi Dayanan17! Congratulations on being accepted!(: Thats exciting news!! The honors program is something that you get invited too. If you qualify for the program they send you an email and it is also up on your admissions page. Unfortunately no, it doesn't shorten the 3 year program, it is in addition to the 3 year program. How it works is that you pick your classes for the semester and then you pick which class you want to be honors and you basically tell the professor (has to be a full time teacher) that this is your honors class. From what I understood the professor basically gives you extra work (either extra homework, project or essays). And in the end you graduate with the a high honors.

Wayne State advice??
Hi Annie! Im sorry, I tried to private message you but it got deleted because it says I don't have enough topics to private message Pretty bummed out I typed out this huge message and it got deleted! But its okay!(: But thank you for "PM"ing me lol. I am a transfer student from Schoolcraft College and don't know much about WSU, I had so many questions when I got accepted. Like scrub colors, shoe color, if we needed a steth and what color it had to be, clinicals, and so much more! You answered sooo many of my questions, thanks again!! In regards to the specifics, for shoes do you recommend the Dansko professionals? I heard mix reviews on them and wanted to see how you felt. Also do you recommend buying scrubs from place WSU gets them from? Because I found many great website with great deals (like $5 for pants!). Does the jacket have to be the same color as the scrubs, or can I get them in white? The color for the scrubs is like a hunter green, correct? Thank you for telling me the name of the steth! I have no idea which is a good brand to buy. Im not sure if you too NUR 2995, but if so do you recommend any teachers? Im stuck between two: Walker and Zugcic. Lastly, do you recommend buying a parking pass? Or is there some where near by the CON that I can park (like a parking structure or parking lot)? Sorry for all of the questions! Ive been trying to find someone who can help answer my questions. On alnurses it seemed like all the posts where from a few years ago and not many where from WSU. Thank you soooo much for all of your help!

Wayne State advice??
I am doing traditional! The plan is to join the organizations they have as well as do the honors program. I recently talked to a honors advisor and decided to go with the honors program. She helped clarify what the program actually consisted of and what was expected of me as a honors student. Did you do the traditional program as well?

Wayne State advice??
Hi Guys! I recently got accepted into Wayne States Nursing Fall 2014 nursing program!(: I am a transfer student from Schoolcraft college and know nothing about wayne state. Anyone have any advice or recommendations on what I should/ shouldn't do? Where to go and where to stay away from? Any teachers that they HIGHLY recommend for the nursing curriculum/ clinicals?? I always find myself getting stuck with the most difficult, unprofessional teachers, so some suggestions on teachers would be great and really appreciated! I also got accepted into the honors program, do you think I should do it as a nursing student? How do you feel about the nursing program/ honors program? Thank you so much!!(:
