  1. What is the purpose of Respiratory therapists when nurses can do all of the same things that they can do. Is there anything that a respiratory therapist can do that an RN cannot?
  2. and do you think you would be a good one, since a lot of what nurses do is educate people, why or why not?
  3. I certainly don't mind dealing get with gross things and bodily fluids and what not but if there's one thing I have a very tough time dealing with it is vomit!! What are the standard protocols for cleaning up puke? Gloves and a mask (in case isles due to something contageous?)
  4. Yes u are interpreting it very wrong.. I'm asking all of these things because I am inquiring because I want to be a nurse but after reading some of these people's posts on here it makes me nervous. I don't want to spend money to go back to school if there's a high liklihood I'll fail.. and me wanting to be a psych nurse is not because I want a "cushy job" it's because I love mental health
  5. I really want to become a nurse, it's been a passion of mine for a while, but my issue is I'm too afraid of failing a class and not making it through the program so it's holding me back! I'd still have to work during nursing school because I have bills and such but every program I read advises students not to work and it's got my concerned (how do people with families and so many bills and stuff not work?) Any suggestions
  6. and are academically dismissed from the nursing program. After how many years does the "dismissal" or "ban" from reapplying finally go away and you are able to apply again?
  7. I'm sorry I just realized I put "hire" instead of "higher" maybe I need a higher level English class lol
  8. more specifically, what are the most common assessments they give to measure your success in the classes? Is it more tests and quizzes based (if so, are they mostly fill in the blank, multiple choice, etc.) or is it more essays, research papers and projects?
  9. How much harder was the lpn program vs the RN program?
  10. How many hours a week did you work? And for those of you that didn't, how did you manages finances and bills?
  11. I think I used the wrong term. I don't care about getting my hands dirty. I mean there's gloves and sanitizer for a reason lol. What I meant is I don't want to work on a regular med/surg floor. I'd like to have a specialty and work on the psych floor.
  12. I'm not normally a baby when it comes to not feeling well or being around contagious people, but If there's one thing I cannot stand is the stomach bug! I would rather have a bad respiratory infection/ the flu rather than this. When I find out its going around in the hospital and everyone's sick with it I freak out lol.
  13. If I want to become a nurse but with no intention of doing bedside nursing and would rather work in a clinic or the community... is that a realistic expectation?
