I'm due in Oct but am not deliverying at my hospital. I work in a place that boasts the largest # of deliveries in the country so it's highly regarded in the area but is very intervention-driven. Good for a high-risk pregnancy but a bit overkill for a normal delivery. I'm going to a hospital further away that is much more relaxed and has a great staff of midwives and offers waterbirthing. ....Plus I think I'd be a little weird about having people i know check my bleeding and fundus but that's just me.

I work @ Northside and they offer up to $2000 relocation assistance. I moved from DC and got the full amount. They are pretty compatible pay rate-wise around here and offer internships for new grads.

I just moved to the area so I can't speak for all Atlanta hospitals but I work at Northside and it seems that they aren't hiring LPNs much anymore. However for RNs it seems like there's tons of opportunities.

I work Mother-Baby at Northside Hospital. I started my orientation in August and just finished about a month ago. They have a great orientation program! And what the other poster said is true. Uniform City (http://www.uniformcity.com) in Tucker is great! It just opened up and is off of LaVista Drive, in the same plaza as the Ballys Total Fitness. I got several tops for $9.99 and bottoms for $7.99! And a good selection of petites which I find is sometimes difficult.

Chloe, I love it at Northside so far! Everyone is so great and the nurses are so helpful. That's strange. I haven't looked at the website since I was applying several months ago but I know that they were interviewing for Mother-Baby Internships the other day because our manager was bringing applicants by the floor to show them around. No, I payed for the flights myself. However, the hospital that I was hired at (Northside) is giving relocation reimbursement.

I had one phone interview for a hospital and then flew down for a 2nd interview with them. The other interviews were all in person (had to fly down each time!). The only experience I had before being an RN is working as a tech and an extern while in nursing school. Good luck! Jenni

Hi, I'm Jenni, graduated from an ADN program in May and passed my boards with 75 questions on June 19! Nursing is much different than my first degree - I also have a BA in Graphic Design. I'm sure that I will love this new profession. I am starting in a Mother-Baby Fellowship on August 6th and am so excited! I'm also relocating from DC to Atlanta this weekend so... there's so many new changes happening in my life! I have accepted a new grad internship at Northside in their Family Centered Care unit and am very excited! Does anyone have any information about this floor or know anyone that has worked there? I can't wait to start and hope it will be a good experience! :spin:

I'm moving from the DC area and am a new grad. I've had several job interviews and a couple job offers so I haven't found it too difficult to find an RN job in Atlanta. LauraMT, I'm scheduled for my exam June 19th so I'm feeling the pressure now, too. Up until now I've been pretty confident and have studied but not obsessively so. Now that it's getting close, I'm starting to doubt myself and hope that I've prepared enough! My thoughts are, if we made it this far and graduated nursing school, we know what we're doing. It's all about reviewing what should already be somewhere in our heads, trying to relax and choose the best answers. Good luck! Just think how great it will be after it's all over!
