I will hold the manager to her word and present all my previous experience and gently push for my experience to be recognized. I feel very blessed to have gotten this job literally 15' away from home, and at such a hard time for nurses.

Applied for a band 5 job, and got a the job! When I asked what scale they would be starting my wage on, they replied that probably on a bottom five and then my CV would be remitted to payroll whom would readjust it accordingly. Is this the normal procedure or are they taking advantage of the lack of jobs to buy nurses on the cheap! I have almost 6 years experience, 4 in the NHS and 2 in the private sector. I really want this job cs it is close to home, but feel demoralized at having to start all over! Any comments would be very appreciated.

Yes Spain is beautiful, but one of the reasons I emigrated to UK was the lack of jobs for nurses..... we train too many!

The same thing is happening in my work as well!! The same people's names go on the list week after week. The funny thing about it is that one of the senior nurses that always puts her name down will not do on call nor lates nor week ends for the department!! Curiously this is accepted and glossed over by the sister. Unfairness that absolutely stinks!

I qualified in Aberdeen in 2004 and had to move to Newcastle for a job. One of the reasons was that the university there churns out aprox 300+ new nurses every year and does not have room for all of them. Why don't you contact British Nursing Agency, I worked for them a while and when they get to know you... it is possible to earn quite a tidy sum.

Dear Rocknurse It sounds like you are homesick! What you feel is felt by every immigrant living in a foreign country, including me living in the UK. Just remember.... you do have a choice and that makes you richer that 90% of humanity. You can decide where to live and work! All the best

OGP, rates are $8000 if I pass NCLEX and then decide to not go to USA. US$25000 if after reaching USA I "fail to comply with the terms and conditions of the Agreement... on demand as liquidated damages". Thank you so much for your replies... please keep them coming !

I am having the same thots.... I moved from Spain to UK 6 years ago, did my 1st level training graduated in 2004 all with the intention of moving eventually to the States. Now after 2 years having qualified my daughter will be marrying a Scotmans (im a single parent) and will be living 4 hours away from me as she does now. If I continue ... I will arrive in USA at 50 years of age! Is that too old? Plus I just got OGP interview pack today and if I don't comply with the 3000+ hours I would owe them 24000 US$ SCARY Your comments would be most appreciated!

So tell me, after all the problems you have encountered, would you still consider emigrating to USA as a positive ? Just wondering as I hope to some year soon!
