  1. Yes, I left a job after 10yrs, it was scarry but the opportunities that came after change my life and career for the better. You can do it, go for it...
  2. How sad for the family. This did not have to happen. I once worked at a place where a staff member applied a vest restraint and tied it to the bed, so when the HOB was raised it choked the patient. The patient had bruising on his neck he was lucky it did not kill him. Sadly, many patient families do not want to be bothered with sitting with their family members and sometimes the nurse does not even approach the family b/c they feel it is easier to restrain than to find help.
  3. You were the lucky chosen one to go to 265, I have known people who have had that many and pass. :)
  4. Ortho/neuro floor and some med/surg patients. The staffing book states 6pts/1nurse reality is 8-10 pts. from 7a-7p and up to 14 pts on 7p-7a. We are not asked if we can take on more pts we are told we have to. It is work or quit if you do not like it. Virginia does not have any laws regarding nurse/pt. ratios.

I once worked for Lifepoint, only 1 month. I quit b/c of the nurse pt. ratio and a bunch of other mess that happened after being sold, I have worked to hard for my nsg.lic. and am not going to put myself in a situation I know is wrong. I do not believe LifePoint has helped our community any, just hurt it and I am from the 300 bed hospital also.
