New OR Nurse injured 8months in Now what
Dear alodocios Sorry you are having so much trouble! I can sympathize. I was injured on the job also while in school (not a nursing job) (RN program) and had to drop out because of the injury; the company ran me around for 2 and half years while I was injured and I fired two attorneys in the process. It was WC lawsuit also. The company took away my job which is by the way illegal. They must hold the job for you until you are able to come back and fill it. You are not removed from your company, you are on leave although they will do their darndest to push you out. You should also immediately file for a combination of WC payments and unemployment insurance if you haven't already. They will probably deny you unemployment but you need to fight for this. This is your right, you can apply at your local unemployment office. I got mine for two years and also WC benefits. I had to push my attorneys for this also. Remember, you do have attorneys but they also work hand in hand with the insurance company and the WC office. I did not like this when I found this out the hard way after two and half years but it is the hard truth. I was badly injured and NO one believed me including my own doc. This was even after the obvious signs showed positive in MRI scans. After two and a half years, he still refused to do a surgery. I had to take my case through advocacy all the way to the State Board of WC to get a surgery fullfilled and to force the doctor and the insurance company to move on this. I walked around that long in pain and did an LPN program instead. Four weeks prior to graduating is when I got notice to do the surgery and I HAD to go. I had fought all that time. So, you have a long road ahead of you I'm afraid. WC is not fun by any means. You must stay very strong. Do not sign one thing until you are 100% better. Keep telling that new doc every time you see him you are in 10/10 pain and you will be seen again and again. You must keep prolonging your recovery to get better. If you are wishy washy and tell them you are in 5/10 pain, they will only let you come back for 3 more months. That's how it works. Keep pushing for more therapy. Be proactive for what you want! And remember, the best advice I can give you, you think the lawyers are on your side but they all work together to get it closed fast so they can get paid! :)

Nursing student and anxiety
la_chica_suerte85 - just wanted you to know, I had tears in my eyes when I read your post. It was like you were speaking to me. I too recently had a trauma in my life and so have suffered from PTSD/anxiety from it. It has made me question going back to school to get my RN something I really wanted to do prior (I am currently an LPN). Your post has given me renewed faith, just knowing there is support out there, thanks! :)

Tennessee/California LVN's
I have all my pre-reqs Tasha - I've done them a couple times over the years through a couple of Bachelors degrees and a Masters. I've always been in the Health care field even while in school. I'm trying to add the LPN to one of my Bachelors one day to make it a BSN. I'm sort of working backwards! (or forwards!) :)

The Commuter - could you private email me about the above school please. Not sure how to private email you yet on this site. I tried! Thanks! [email protected] :)

No, I didn't attend. I am in the process of thinking about it. I think if you did well on the Hesi, that looks good but you have to do well on those 2 sections I mentioned or you have to retake it, no exceptions! I think the acceptance rate is a little lower but not sure what it is. You will have to do those pre-reqs before applying but the info is on the site. Not sure about the ROPD classes. I live rurally in TN so you have to travel about 30 min. for a job. Should be better in Nashville, I would think!

Best and Worst places for LPN opportunities
I'd like to hear if the Seattle, WA market (and surrounding area) is still dried up for 2014. I don't mind what area of nursing it is in. I plan on moving there in 2015. I saw a post on it back in 2012. Thanks!

Oh sorry, I think it is the other way around. You need to score 80 in the reading section for the Hesi and 78 in the math!

Look into TSU in Nashville. It's a little known program in downtown Nashville. Put LPN-RN program into their Search on their website, it is hard to find, but will come up. I think a 2.7 is ok but you will have to check. I don't think they will care about your W as long as you repeated it and did a "C" or better. You have to take the Hesi exam. You need to score at least an 80 in the math and a 78 in the reading section. They don't care what you score in anything else. Just pass those 2 sections, although I think passing well would be a plus. They admit twice a year. You also need Micro and a Psych and you need to go for an informal interview and someone will look over your transcripts and let you know if your grades are ok and if you need any pre-req's. That's it!

I need some advice please!
Hi Bubblemania, I think I can appreciate how you feel. I too have just begun a new job (3 months) and am a new LPN, just graduated in the past year. I just saw your word "anxiety" in your post and "I'm not good enough". I think I can relate. I also have these same feelings. I spoke with really nice nurse who has 7 years behind her and another one who has 10 years behind him. Both of them said it was "normal" to feel this anxiety in a new job your first time out. I also asked if they could remember how long it took before it went away and how comfortable I would feel at my job. They both said about a year before you would feel like a "seasoned" nurse. I work at an assisted living facility and I was constantly worried about who was going to fall on my shift and how I was going to handle it, not to mention giving the right drug to the correct patient! But, over time (3 months now) the anxiety lessened I can assure you and even though I still want to go home and I don't want to go, I don't have anxiety while I am there! It does get better! Just keep going and showing up. Put in your year as someone also suggested. There is a video on YouTube by Carolyn Porter Thomas (rnurse.com) on all this anxiety and being a new nurse, actually she has many, she talks about it also being normal. She also talks about showing that you have confidence on the job even when you feel like you don't. This is important! Just hang in there! :)

Marian University- Nashville
Hi Marburg, I did talk with someone here in nashville re: the program. You can call about this. Their first class was in May. The next one is in Aug. I decided against it simply because of the cost, 50K. I already have huge loans out from a BS and a MS so I can't really do this. Also, I am an LPN and I thought I would just skip the whole LPN-RN route and do it in 16 months to get the BSN but the cost of it just doesn't make sense. I owe more than that right now!! Don't go through any Publishing place, just call the Marian number online or do marianuniversity.com, I think that will get you where you want to go. But, they are extremely helpful and will answer all your questions! Good luck!

Marian University- Nashville
Hi, I called about this program also. I didn't know they were starting one in Aug. I may be interested. I am concerned about cost too. Wondering if you can still maintain a job and do this also. I will have all my pre-reqs finished I think so I will probably enter the nursing courses directly. Anyone starting the May program, would like to hear how you are doing?!! :)

Spring-2014 Any other WA students out there?
Hi cleealto, I will be moving back to WA state within a year and wanted to take courses through an online program. I have my LPN and wanted to do and LPN-RN. So WA accepts ISU apparently? Is this program accredited there? Do you know others who have done this program back in WA? How do you like it so far? Thanks!
