Arizona State University RN-BSN online ... anyone? (2016)
1. I believe ASU had a certain availability each session. You follow their roadmap which made it easy. I never had a problem not getting a class. 2. I am not sure about the Math course you are referring to. I had a college algebra class (Math 110) and that was accepted just fine, the class was taken at Cal State San Bernardino a few years prior. I also had statistics from Cal State San Bernardino and it was accepted as well. When I started looking into ASU, I set an appointment with the ASU online recruitment counselor and they reviewed my transcripts to see what they would accept. I was missing an english class and did that class at a community college before I joined ASU (much cheaper). 3. The community assignment was not hard to find. They give you a lot of resources to help find a place. I used my kid's classroom as I was a volunteer at the school. I did a presentation during "health week" on Sun Safety.

Arizona State University RN-BSN online ... anyone? (2016)
What area are you in? If in California, You will not have any problems with any school not accepting your degree from Arizona State University online. It is a fully accredited program. I am currently in a MSN program at a local Cal State campus in California and had no problem with my credits. If in California, Cal State San Marcos has a great NP psych program.

New School Nurse, do you work per diem somewhere else?
I am doing a hybrid program at CSU San Bernardino! I love it! Great program, gives me both in class interaction as well as online independence. I actually never left the hospital and am still doing both jobs. It is working out for now. Let's see how long I can keep at it. I think a per diem job would be enough floor experience but you do not necessarily need to go back to the hospital to be a nurse educator. There are plenty of nurses with other backgrounds in the MSN program that have never been in the hospital or have not been in the hospital for a very long time. You will be fine. :-)

New School Nurse, do you work per diem somewhere else?
I did summer school last summer on top of my regular hospital job. It was easy money. I enjoyed it.

New School Nurse, do you work per diem somewhere else?
Hello, I have been subbing as a school nurse for 2years. A full time position has opened in the district that I want to work in and I interviewed for the position today. It is VERY likely I will be offered the position. I love subbing as a school nurse and am always happy when I pick up a shift even though the pay sucks. I currently work on an ortho floor and will truly miss the unit and my manager, but quite frankly, my back hurts and I am tired of bedside. I do want to give school nursing a real try. I enjoy subbing and I love the idea of getting a pension and summer/winter breaks. I am currently in a masters program (which I started this winter to put me higher in the pay bracket if I was ever hired as a school nurse) but am finding my hospital experience helpful and relevant to the classes I am currently taking. Which is why I am hesitant to quit the hospital for good. I thought when my time to accept a school nursing job came, I was going to be so excited and say good bye to the hospital for good but now I am finding myself undecided just because my experience has been so helpful for my masters. Do any of you have per diem jobs at a hospital in addition to your school nursing duties? How often do you work? Is it do-able to pick up a shift here and there with a full time school nursing job? Is keeping my hospital experience even as per-diem even worth it? Over the summer the census does drop at the hospital so I will probably be cancelled a lot during the summer. Any help/advice/input is greatly appreciated.

CSU Dominguez Hills- Online MSN Education
Hello, I am looking into going back to school. I want my MSN in Education. I want an online program but want a school that picks your teaching sites for you when you have to do your clinical hours. I have looked into Grand Canyon University but am undecided since I want a school that is based in California. But I also want a school that I can get done fast! I looked into Cal State Fullerton as well, and their program is not online, they do offer some classes online but I would have to go to campus 2 times a week. I don't want to have to spend too much money either! But am willing to pay if the experience is good. CSU Dominguez Hills is attractive because it is not too far away if I do have to go to campus for whatever reason (I live in Riverside, CA). If you went through their program, particularly the MSN Education could you please share your experience or some insight. Thank you!

MSN Education is it worth it? or this concentration is more about your passion?
Hi, I am curious if you pursued your MSN at GCU? If you did, could you please give me some insight on the program and how you it was set up? How long did it take you to finish? Do they find placement for you? Etc..Thank you!

Arizona State University RN-BSN online ... anyone? (2016)
For the BSN, you do not have clinicals. You already did clinicals for the RN degree. The BSN is more focused on evidence-based practice. There is one activity in the community health class that you do have to go out in the community.

School nurse in CA
All the nurses in my district have a masters on top of the school nurse credential. It helps with the pay bracket but the priority is the school nurse credential. I already have the preliminary school nurse credential but thank you for the link.

Arizona State University RN-BSN online ... anyone? (2016)
Were you able to find information on ASU RN to BSN program? I finished their online program March 2016 and I really enjoyed their program and definitely recommend it! It was busy and I worked full time and then went part time for the last bit of it but it is totally doable. If you stay on track you can do it! And there are some assignments you can do ahead of time especially if you know you have to work. I loved how organized the program was from the recruiter to the faculty. There is one group project per class and a lot of discussion boards, but you get the hang of it. The semester is divided in 8 weeks so you can actually take more classes, I did 2 classes every 8 weeks, which equaled to 4 classes each semester. I started the program January 2015 and finished March 2016, I already had statistics and english 102 before I started the program. Let me know if you have any more questions.

ASU vs GCU
I finished ASU's RN to BSN program March 2016 and I really enjoyed the program. It was busy but it was well organized and planned out. The recruiter was very knowledgable and was always there for you as well as the faculty. There is one group project per class and you also a few video presentations, which at first I hated, but ended up liking. The coursework is fair and you will learn a lot. I loved that the semesters were divided into 8 week sessions which made the program go faster. I started the program in January 2015 and completed it in March 2016, taking two classes each term. I suggest you take English 102 and Statistics now before you start the program. Much cheaper to take elsewhere. I would totally go back to ASU for my MSN but they do not offer the concentration I am interested in. Good luck!

School nurse in CA
Hello, First time posting on here. I have been a school nurse sub since Aug 2016 and I think I am ready to make the leap and take on the job as full-time school nurse if a position opens in my area. I work med-surg at a hospital and do school nursing for fun. I am looking at going back to school to get my school nurse credential. I am looking for input as to what I should make the MSN focus on, Education or School Nursing Education. Cal State Fullerton offers a post SNSC masters with a focus on school nursing but I worry that it will limit me to school nursing only vs. a MSN in education and not school nursing. What is your MSN concentration on? Two of the nurses at the district I sub in have Masters in Education instead of Masters of Nursing in Education, but they do have their school nursing credential. Hope this post makes sense.

ASU or GCU? Which school is better?
Hi Wbthomas, I am looking into ASU, wondering if you would recommend it? What do you like about it? Does it provide a good learning environment, and do you feel it is worth the cost? I am already accepted and may be starting during the second session of the fall semester.

Boise state online RN-BSN
Thanks answering my questions. I really like their price and that they are accredited. Do you plan on going for your masters later on? Overall, would you truly recommend the program? Are you glad you went to Boise State and not somewhere else? Are they organized and get back to you fairly quickly? Did you ever have a problem getting into a class you needed?

Boise state online RN-BSN
That is good to know. Could you tell me how the classes are spaces out? I already have stats and some upper GE from my old university before I went the ADN route. Is there summer school? Are you taking everything all at once? I know ASU divides the semester in to two 8weeks, so the first 8 weeks you take 2 classes and the last 8 weeks you only take one. Is it something similar to that?

YOU need to know what accreditation really means!
AOx1, I am wondering if you can answer this question since you seem very knowledgeable in the subject. So are we pretty much safe if we pick a school that has either ACEN or CCNE accreditation? I am looking in schools that offer RN-BSN, but after my BSN, I want to have the option to getting my masters. I am looking into Boise State University which is accredited by ACEN, and Arizona State University which is accredited by CCNE. Will I be safe whether I pick the ACEN school or CCNE?
