DDNA certification info
Hello, I was wondering for those of you that are DDNA certified, other than the knowledge you gained from become certified, what other benefits did getting certified give you? Do employers offer a pay increase for those who are certified vs not? Any info is much appreciated!

Dying of starvation
I agree with a lot of what people have said. Just because one nurse says she cannot have anything doesn't make it so. If she is still legally responsible for herself, she has any and every right to refuse to remain NPO. Are you another nurse or a CNA? Maybe bring it to the DON's attention or someone higher up than this nurse. If she will choke and die from water...and she knows this and still wants it, it is her right.

Can Psychology relate to nursing?
Psychology relates to everything you do in life in one way or another. You could definitely pursue becoming a Psychiatric Nurse but I find it takes a very special individual to be able to both handle it and enjoy it. You need to think about what you want as far as length of school program and what you want in a career. My brother wants to be a counselor and go on to become a psychiatrist so he's looking at about 6-8 years of education. You could get your BSN in about 4 years and specialize in psychology. Also, counselor/psychiatrists sit more and talk more in depth about peoples issues whereas nurses are much more active and typically are on their feet the better part of the day.

LBCC letter of acceptance for Spring 2012-RN program
What was your GPA in the science prereqs and overall as well as your TEAS score, if you don't mind sharing? It would be so helpful!

CSU Channel Islands Spring 2012
A few people have already asked - but I am very interested in applying for the Goleta Cottage Hospital Satellite program as it is the closest BSN program to where I live. I would greatly appreciate any information or hints on what your GPA/TEAS scores were? It's very hard to find accurate information online.

CSUCI Goleta Satellite-ABSN
Hello! I don't know about this specific program, but I am in an LVN program and the course material isn't too challenging for me - yet it's very time consuming. It's a full time job and more because once you get home you aren't done for the day. You must review the material, study, read etc. and no one in my class really works except MAYBE one day a week and they all end up calling off their one shift half the time for sleep or study time. Hope this helps you some! Maybe you can help me out! I've been looking into BSN programs for when I am done and looked into the Goleta Satellite one as well, were you accepted? If you don't mind what were your "stats". I'm wondering if this would be a good option for me and it's the closest BSN program to me...just not sure what I need GPA/TEAS wise to have a shot at getting in. Thanks in advance.

Applying for Cuesta College RN Program for Fall 2012
I'm wondering what your overall scores were for the program, and did any of you that were on the wait list actually get a spot? Just wondering what score actually gets a shot at getting a spot in the program. Thanks in advance

Why do nurses "eat their young"?
I really enjoyed reading your post about your experiences. I am starting an LVN program this Fall so I like reading about others experiences as a Nursing Student. Working as a CNA I too met a lot of wonderful nurses and a few that were not quite so friendly. It's just like any other profession...there are people that absolutely love their job, people that don't mind it, and people that quite obviously aren't content either with their job or maybe it's their life outside of work.

Too late to be a nurse?
I honestly feel that you are never too old to learn! I knew a 90 year old man that went to college after his wife passed away to get his associates degree and learn Spanish...if he can do it, so can you. My dad did a Psychiatric Technician program in his late forties/early fifties and was successful and he absolutely loves his job. As far as getting a job after you're finished, legally they cannot discriminate against you based on your age. Nursing involves a lot of standing/walking so as long as you're up for that I say go for it! Best of luck to you

Who carries the best PETITE sized Scrubs?
I personally love the Grey's Anatomy by Barco scrubs. They are a little pricier than Cherokee and some of the other brands but, in my opinion, are well worth the extra money. Super comfortable, well made and long lasting. They come in tons of colors in petite sizes :)
