  1. thank you!!!
  2. There are three main hospitals in GR. Depends where you are looking to work and with what population?
  3. How is the program? How long is the program? Any clinicals? Im worried about taking classes online? Is it really difficult?
  4. I wrote a thing all about my NCLEX journey in a different post. https://allnurses.com/nclex-discussion-forum/my-nclex-rn-1166609.html Check it out.
  5. Hey guys. Just wanted to tell you guys my story and how I passed the NCLEX. More for my personal use but maybe someone else can benefit from this as well. I liked reading about other's so here is mine. Background: I've been an LPN for about 4 years. Graduated the RN program in end of April 2018. Got ATT in beginning of May. Test date: Scheduled my NCLEX for June 19th, 2018 but ended up rescheduling for Saturday, June 23rd at 2pm. I prayed for a sign from God to tell me if I was ready or not. Two days before the 19th, I started to get bad anxiety and something told me that i was not ready. I took that as a sign. The next morning, I rescheduled for the 23rd. How I studied: only thing I used was UWorld. I had the Hurst live review during school and there was some content they wanted us to review on our own. I did some of it but never finished. One of my classmates bought UWorld and we shared that. I didnt get to do the assessment part of it bc if that but on the 75 question tests I created, I was scoring 50 to about 64% on each one. I tried to do 75 questions a day, about one month before NCLEX day but about 1.5 weeks before, I started to do 75 question twice a day. Towards the end, I started to carefully read the rationales. When I would answer each question, I would make my own rationale on why I picked that answer. Also I bought the pretest and posttest of NCLEX RN Mastery. It was $20 for both. I took the pretest a few days before my exam day. I got 71% chance of passing. The postest I took a day before the NCLEX and I got 82% chance of passing. Exam day: my exam was scheduled for 2pm (I am no way a morning person). It was downtown so I was concern about traffic and parking. I wore nursing scrub pants and a fitted t-shirt. Did my makeup really nice (I wanted to feel good about myself). I ate a yogurt and drank some water...thats all I had bc I did not want to feel nauseous from the anxiety. I left my house about 1245pm and headed downtown. During the drive, I took deep breathes, thought positive thoughts, prayed for guidance, listened to music and just tried to have good vibes all around. I parked my car at my former college and walked from there to the center. Before I got into the testing office, I went to the bathroom and told myself wow this is it. I went into the office and the lady greeted me and asked me what test I was taking. She gave me a set of rules to read. After I read the rules, she asked me for my ID and to spell my name. Then she asked me to scan my palm and she took my picture. She then asked if I had a cell phone and told me to turn it off and put it in a sealable bag provided. All of my keys and belongings went into a locker that was provided. I took only my ID and my locker key with me. She told me to sit at the chairs in the hallway until someone called for me. I estimate that I started go take my exam around 1:35pm. If you arrive early, they will take you in early. I sat down on the chairs and took more deep breathes. The other lady came over and took me back to the monitoring area. I scanned my palm again and told them what exam i was taking. She reminded me of the rules and gave me a dry erase board and marker. She walked me to the computer and signed in. Then I sat down and it was time to get started. Exam itself: theres a section thats just the tutorial. It is a part of your timed exam. Then NCLEX itself is just scary. Not one question made complete sense to me. Only three questions that I could think of I was like yep ok I know this. The rest of them, I have no idea...nothing like what I studied in school or on UWorld. I got a lot of prioritizing and delegating, 2 put these in order, disease and medications that ive never heard of, some OB and peds. I got to 75 questions and the exam shut off. Took me an hour and 16 minutes. There were some question that do not court towards your exam but NCLEX wanted you to answer. Then a survey as well. After that, I raised my hand and another lady came to get me. She collected my things. We walked back to the monitoring area and she scanned my palm again. Then I was allow to leave that area. I got my things out of my locker and the other lady opened up the sealable bag so i could obtain my phone. Then i left. Feelings; the NCLEX is hard. It was hard the time I took it for my LPN and it was hard this time around. I really felt like I failed. I walked back to my car. I did the PVT an hour later and got the good pop up but I still was not convinced. Waiting: since I took my exam in a Saturday, I figured I would have to wait until Monday to get my results. Many of my classmates took theirs on a weekday at 8am and found out around 430pm the same day, that they passed. The waiting period was torture. Monday came around and I worked the night before until Monday morning. I could not sleep at all and I have to turn back around and work second shift that same day. I slept for about 2 hours and then I was stuck to my email, refreshing it every 2 minutes. But nothing. I started to get worried. I went to work and kept looking at the clock. Maybe the licenses will be released at 430pm. around 403pm, I refreshed my email and there was an email from our state's licensing board. I have officially passed the NCLEX and received my RN license!!! I couldnt breathe and I was so happy. One of my nurse coworkers came over to see why i was freaking out. She congratulated me and gave me a hug. Advice: study and do as many questions as you can. Read the rationales slowly and understand them. You will get questions that you have no idea about. Do you best and take an educated guess if you need to. You know more than you think. Take deep breathes. Be calm. You got this. Pray always and often. If you do not pass, don't be discourage. You passed nursing school which has 100s of nursing questions. That difficult stuff is over. You got one more thing to encounter. Don't give up.
  6. Just to let you know, my license was issued today. I passed and PVT works
  7. With UWorld, I shared it with 2 other classmates. One of my classmates was nice enough to share it with us. So I cant tell you anything about the assessment scores. My UWorld scores ranged from 50% to 65% on the 75 question tests. I purchased the pretest and posttest on NCLEX Mastery RN for $20. The pretest, I got a 71% chance of passing NCLEX and postest I got 82% chance. The rationals on the mastery isnt as good as UWorld but I took them to get an idea if I would pass NCLEX or not. I took the NCLEX PN 4 years ago. I used just the Saunders book and used the software to do questions. Took the NCLEX PN and felt the same way - I felt like everything I studied for was not on the NCLEX and there was not one question where I was like YES that is the answer!! Got cut off at the minimum (85 qs). Left feeling like I failed. I did the PVT (which is a bit different than what it is now. DIdnt have to put in a CC number) and got the good pop up. 4 days later, I checked my state's licensing website and my license number was next to my name. I passed. NCLEX RN - I got questions on medications and diseases that Ive never heard of before. I just had to take an educated guess. There was maybe a few questions that I felt confident with but I still left the test site feeling not confident and that I had failed. I got cut off at 75 questions meaning that I either did very well or very poorly. I felt the same way I felt with the PN, not confident and just sad!! I did the PVT an hour later, got the good pop up. Ive been checking randomly and still getting the good pop up. But still waiting for my official results.
  8. I just took my NCLEX yesterday so I havent got my results yet. I got the good pop up but I wont get excited until I see my official results. Not to scare you but I thought the NCLEX was difficult. I used Uworld doing 50 to 75 questions a day then the 2 weeks before, I was doing about 75 questions twice a day. I got shut off at 75 questions and I walked out feeling like I didnt even study and not confident at all. An hour after, I did the PVT and got the good pop up. I felt like that when I took my NCLEX PN and I honestly just think there is no "real" way to prepare for this exam...thats just me though.
  9. I used UWorld for about 2 months. The NCLEX is scary, that's all I have to say.
  10. I did the PVT as well so hopefully it is accurate!!!
  11. I took the NCLEX yesterday and I agree, it was terrible!! I used UWorld for about 2 months and I felt like that didnt help at all because there was things and diseases on that test that I've never heard of before. I did the PVT and I got the good pop up so hopefully that means I passed. I wont know until maybe tomorrow!! Fingers crossed
  12. What about people taking it in at 10am or 2pm? Or on the weekends?
  13. Any schools not requiring prereqs? I looked into Ferris and they are asking me to take 5 more prerequs such as as Statistics and Microbiology
  14. Hi, I am just finishing my RN/ADN at a local community college and I am trying to plan ahead. I want to start on my pre-reqs for the BSN program but I need to figure out what school. Anyone have any experiences they would like to share and what school you chose? Thanks!
  15. Just review the previous Hesi exams you have taken in the past. You will be able to take the Hesi twice, must get 76% on one of the exams. Know your lab values, ABGs, etc. It isn't as bad.
  16. So I wanted to share my NCLEX PN story. I really enjoyed reading other nurses' stories about their NCLEX experience because it really helped me get an idea how the NCLEX would go and how I should prepare for it... A little background...I had to take two exit HESI exams. It was required by my school to take two exit exams and at least pass one with a 76%. If you didn't pass, you would have to take additional exams until you pass. The school would not send your nursing applications to the state if you didn't pass at least one. The Hesi exit was sort of an indicator if you would pass the NCLEX or not. On the first exam, I scored a 88% but on the second exam, I scored only a 80%. I graduated end of 2013. I got my ATT at the end of January and scheduled my NCLEX on Friday, the 21st of March. This will be my first NCLEX I have taken. Study materials: I mostly used my Evolve Elsevier website that my school had enrolled me in throughout nursing school. As I got to the end of school, I started to use the software that came with my Saunders NCLEX PN book (the red one). I studied out of that book and used the software pretty much daily. I would do about 25 or more questions a day, depending on how busy I was and read out of my Saunders book. I went to the library and picked up Exam Cram PN (an older version) and the Kaplan purple book. The NCLEX itself: I really felt like that NCLEX was hardly anything that I really studied. There was not one question where I was like "wow, I know the answer to that question!" It was way more difficult than I thought it was. The exit Hesi exams I took were really easy compare to the NCLEX. I couldn't focus on the NCLEX questions; my mind was wandering everywhere!! As I proceeded through the NCLEX, I really felt defeated. When my exam shut off at 85 questions, my heart raced and I felt terrible. I really felt like I failed. There were a lot of questions where I had to guess. I had many Select All that Apply, a couple drag and drop, many delegating and priority questions. Many standard precautions of certain diseases as well. A couple drug questions. I didn't have questions about lab values directly, but you might get the questions with the tabs (like the MAR) and it has the patient's lab values on it so you will need to know the norms!! When I got of the exam, I got on my phone and tried to google some of the information that I was questioned on. God must been helping me out because the questions I guess on, I guessed right! But there were a few questions I know I answered wrong as well. Fast forward to 6 hours later, I decided to do that Pearson Vue trick. I got the good pop up but I didn't take it really seriously. It did ease my anxiety a bit though. 48 hours, on Sunday, I got the option to pay for quick results. I really wanted to find out but told myself that I would wait until the end of Tuesday, if my license number was not posted on the BON website, I would do the quick results. First thing Tuesday morning, I checked the BON for my number. I had the bookmarked the page that had my name already and went to the page. I saw the number! But for some reason, my brain didn't register it so I searched my name and there was a number instead of the "(Pending)"!! I was happy!! I wish the best of luck to everyone taking the NCLEX. The exam is very difficult! Believe me!! You might feel like you failed, but don't feel like you did until you get the results. And it's a two way street, if you do fail, DON'T GIVE UP!!! Again, the exam is NOT easy!! You passed nursing school. You got through the hardest part of nursing!! Now, it's just one more obstacle you must cross to be a nurse!! Nursing is a very, very broad subject. The NCLEX can throw any questions your way on drugs, diseases that you never heard of, it's crazy!! But keep on keeping on. You CAN do it!!
  17. Hi guys. Just wanna update. I didn't pay for the quick results but I checked my BON this morning and I saw my license number!! Thanks everyone!
  18. Wow really? That's crazy and scary at the same time!
  19. Hi guys. I want to first say thanks so much for everyone on allnurses. This site helped me through school and NCLEX. I just took the NCLEX on Friday, March 21st and I did the Pearson Vue trick and got the "good pop up." But now I have the option to do quick results. I know it isn't a big deal to pay the $7.95 but I already got the "good pop up" and I will have to find out sooner or later anyways. Should I do the quick results or just wait it out because I "probably" already passed according to the Pearson Vue Trick? I checked and my name is not on the BON list yet How long did it take for your name to appear on the BON list? I live in MI if it really matters. Thanks so much!!
