I'm applying for the Fall 2015 RN program at Gaston College. I'm finishing up my last pre-req class with a few weeks left. (Yay Micro) I've scoured the website to get information regarding exactly how the points system works. The only info I can find was in the FAQ section under RN: 2 points given for all non biology related courses, 4 points given for each of the 3 biology courses, 1-4 pts given for the Teas V depending on score (min of 65) .5-2.5 given for GPA in related courses (9 total with 2.0 gpa minimum) .5 pts given for an A in Allied Health II course. Maximum score of 31 possible. I plan on retaking the Teas to get a higher score (65 as of now with lots of studying going on :) ) and I have 2 chances before Sept 1 (the day they begin to accept applications). I have been trying to get a meeting with one of the ladies involved in the RN program but I was wondering if anyone could give me some information about the points system.A friend of mine was accepted a few years ago and was wait listed with a 29, she got in on the second wave of acceptance letters but she was pretty nervous. I just want to make sure I'm in good standing and don't need to do anything more than retake the Teas. Will I get 1 pt for the 65 min Teas score(just wondering where I stand as of now)? I have 2 C's, one in ACA and the other in CIS 110 (:banghead:silly I know) every other grade is A or B . Should I retake these classes? I've spoken with several of the regular advisers, but they can never really tell me where I stand points wise. My gpa as of now is a 2.93, if I retake those two classes and make B's it only brings me up to a 3.09 so I'm wondering if its really worth it? Will my 2.93 GPA make that big of a difference if my Teas score is really good?(Say 75 or so). Thanks for any advice or clarification given! I can't wait for spring break to be over so maybe I can get an apt. before the summer courses begin!
