Under investigation
First of all, the accuser has to have some kind of proof that you didn't chart the vitals. Most hospitals have cameras in the hallways for the safety of the patients/staff/visitors. If you documented the vitals then there should be a computer/paper trail. If there isn't then you didn't do it.

New Nurse on a Tele/Oncology/Hospice Floor
Kudos to you for choosing oncology. There's most likely tons of books out there that you can read, sorry I can't recommend any. But I think hands-on will definitely teach you a lot. There's a lot of things that cannot be taught by books such as empathy and patience. Good luck!

PVT good pop up...too soon??
Prioritization is the top category with NCLEX. So if you got a lot of those and it shut down at 75, then you most likely passed.

Should New Grad Play it Safe or Take a Risk?
What you need to do is speak to the head of the residency program and explain your situation. If they cannot work with you then there goes your answer. You worked hard for your license.

I Desperately Want Out
Hi there, First all of all, not all nursing fields have to work holidays and weekends. However, with that you have to sacrifice something such as working 5 days a week. Considering you're pretty much a new nurse, there are certain things you have to "suck up". Nursing is not a job for the thin skinned. Patience and determination goes a long way. You're young and have time to start a family. Find a nursing position that makes you happy then start a family. And meditate :)

Need opinions :)
I suggest start taking some pre-reqs for a nursing program. Easy ones such as sociology, english, psychology, nutrition, etc. Do well on those and it'll boost up your GPA. There are some programs out there that only ask for 2.7 GPA. I attended Montefiore School of Nursing in Mt. Vernon. It's a 2 yr Associate's program (about $25k). I've got a few suggestions if you do decide to take up nursing there (you can email me). They only calculate the necessary pre-reqs to get a 2.7 GPA. So the rest of your "silly" classes won't matter. You can take the rest of the pre-reqs while doing the program, however, A&P 1 & 2 are recommended to be taken before the program because it'll be too hard to juggle the work. If you really want to become a nurse, don't even waste your time with any trade school. Good luck! By the way, I work at Jacobi :)

Montefiore School of Nursing (Dorothea Hopfer)
Hi there. The entrance exam's now Kaplan. I'm graduating from MSON this wk. the program is rigorous. No social life n u can manage ur time right u can get some sleep. The program's on the pricey side compared to community colleges. But I don't think it's as competitive as community colleges because of the people trying to get in. People might not want to owe a lot of money so they opt for the community colleges but that's added stress cause u have to compete with hundreds n hundreds of applicants. Once u do get in whatever college u choose, I advise to take it one exam at a time. N focus, read, understand the etiology. There r dozens of resources online that u can use to learn. Either visual or audio. Good luck!!!

They try to even it out. They'll ask if any1 can volunteer to switch to another lab time. Haven't heard of any class having trouble w the lab times. Usually the class works it out.

Hi there. The profs will teach u what u need to know. The exams r nclex style n it's supposed to get u ready to take the actual nclex. No, I don't feel that I'm "teaching" myself, tho they will not spoon-feed u, u have to do a lot of the leg work. The clinicals r held at montefiore owned hospitals (new Rochelle, mt Vernon n Bronx). Contrary to what people might say, montefiore do not hire their graduates. The hiring process is the same as w other hospitals. I was informed that they would help w writing up ur resume. Hope that helps 😀
