How much math is involved in day-to-day nursing?
Sooo basically math isn't my strong point at all.... Especially when I'm nervous and under a lot of pressure I'm a good critical thinker and good at science. I'm also cheerful and can really connect with people. But math has always made me miserable.... It doesn't hinder me ever because I have a calculator when I need one; but I keep reading about how nurses have to do complex mathematical equations to calculate medicine doses I got into an entry nursing masters program and don't knownif I should accept the admission because if this!!! Please advise!

Can a LPN delegate to RN?
Wow what did the administrator ask you to do?

Part-Time NP Programs: Opinions?
I think the op is just afraid that these programs pump out nurses with doctoral degrees and they're really not ready (don't have the clinical knowledge ) to practice medicine on their own She's also afraid that come a few years, people will no longer trust np's because too many of them will be out in the field without proper training, giving EVERY apn a bad name.

Calling patients and/or co-workers "honey" or "hon"
Personally, I don't mind being called "hon" or "honey" It's actually probably something that would make me comfortable around the person

I really don't know anything about this, but I certainly don't think it can hurt to try again! Especially if you let HR know what happened last time...

What was your GPA when you got accepted?
Just got into a nursing masters program Gpa= 3.38 Sciences= 3.66 My school seems to take a "holistic" approach when reviewing applicants... They look at previous healthcare experiences, the personal statements, they see if a students gpa went progressively upwards etc...

Part-Time NP Programs: Opinions?
I hear what you're saying, but with Obamacare Rollin in there will actually be a demand for primary care practitioners.... That's where nurses will be in demand

DePaul MENP Fall 2014
Awesome! Just joined! Don't know why it wouldn't come up in the search.... but this link worked!
-
Part-Time NP Programs: Opinions?
well technically they're working in the field and immersing themselves in nursing 40 hours/week so really they're spending more time than one class per semester learning and putting the foundations of their knowledge into practice I hear your point though

When do u find out if you'll be confirmed a spot for fall 2014? Also which cohort did u apply to?
-
DePaul MENP Fall 2014
Wow thanks for your detailed answer! I too, am 24 (almost 25) so won't be done until I'm 27. Kinda scary! I'm not a minority either so I'm not eligible for any of those scholarships... Anyhow, how do I go about applying for some type of school financial aid? I'm having a difficult time reaching someone who can help me! Lol I got a link to a web page with all these random scholarships but it looks like they're difficult to qualify for and most of the fall deadlines have passed. Oh well Sorry for bugging you with all these questions Ps: which cohort are you in? Lincoln park or Rosalind Franklin?

DePaul MENP Fall 2014
Thanks for the response! A few main questions: 1) are there any scholarships at all available?! Any financial aid or anything? The $70k price tag is very overwhelming to me 2) I'm pretty intelligent but certainly not a total brainiac. I am concerned about being successful in the program... Do they help students who may be struggling? Or is it simply "fend for yourself and fail if you can't hack it"? 3) where are the clinicals located? Can I request certain clinicals that are close to my home? 4) do you have any time at all for anything other than school? Or does it completely encompass your entire life? I really appreciate any answers or advice you can offer!

First week as a school nurse- advice needed
I don't get it, you DID call her! Maybe she was just stressed and took it out on you but I don't see how you could've handled the situation any better

I always thought state schools (like uic) were cheaper than private schools!

UIC's GEP Fall 2014
Just got my acceptance into depaul's master in nursing program and I'm just now waiting to hear from UIC I'm concerned that these two schools don't offer an MSN degree (just MS). Anyone know how much tuition is at uic?
