  1. I got through nursing school by working a part-time private caregiver/nanny job for a young girl with various mental and physical disabilities. It was very flexible. I found the job on Craigslist. However, that is here in TX. (I am moving to NW AR in a couple of weeks to finally work as an RN.) My BFF is a professional nanny, and she has kept my Godson with her while working from pregnancy to now...and he is almost 4 years old. There are options for mothers in school as long as there are mothers who need child care. Good luck in your search!
  2. Congratulations!!! You have worked long and hard to get to this point...revel in it!!! I'm turning my app in on Aug.9, and will hopefully get the instant OK to take Nursing Skills I, then in about a month they should let me know if I am in for January 08...
  3. :welcome:
  4. I'm so happy for you! We get cats for dissection, and our instructor is very pleased with them. She says they are much better than fetal pigs b/c the pigs are too pre-mature to see the organ systems very well. Supposedly they are very close to human organ systems. So far this seems to be true, although I'm having a terrible time going back and forth from cat to human trying to name muscles... Congrats again on your cadaver...that seems just perfect!!!
  5. Please post any exceptional websites that you know of for bones! I'm using what I have found from these forums so far...but I'm so nervous about my Lab Practical on Monday! It's over Tissues, Integumentary System, and Bones. I'm good with Tissues and I.S., but all those bones are making me crazy! Help! Thanks in advance! Jeanettecentaur
  6. congrats everyone on their super grades! in our program we have a separate anatomy class, and physio next semester. tx seems to have different rules...they abandoned the combo anat/physio classes. so here's what i made on my 1st lab practical...101%...woohoo!!! just got my grade today for our 1st lec. exam...96%...whew!!! i was really nervous! anyway, our professor insisted that we not get too comfortable if our grades were good, b/c now we needed to study harder than ever... i'm putting in 30-40 hours a week studying, and showing up to open lab on sundays...i hope it's enough! good luck all! study hard! jeanettecentaur
  7. in my opinion, the best place to live (in texas) is austin. when you fly in you can see what beautiful, green, hill country central texas has. yes the summers can be super hot! some might call it oppressive! however, it's definitely not humid and polluted like houston, or large and concrete like dallas. it's a wonderful city with great culture, magnet status hopitals, and like the rest of the state...no state income tax!!! good luck in your search... jcentaur
