Is WGU Mac Friendly?
I'm only three classes in, but I have been using my Mac with no issues. My mentor did tell me to use the Firefox browser though.

RN-BSN Starting in July with NR351 Any Hopefuls?
Jasilady do you mind pm'ing me your cultural diversity instructor? I am taking this class next and a little nervous, I have read it is "paper-heavy." But it sounds like you are managing just fine so hopefully everything will go ok for me!

Hi RokzRN, so you are taking 2 nursing courses for the July session? I am scheduled for Cultural Diversity. Which courses are you taking?

RN-BSN Starting in July with NR351 Any Hopefuls?
Hello, just thought I would reach out. I started Chamberlain in the May session so I am almost done with the first class (nr 351 transitions). So far so good, don't have anything negative to say. I work and have young kids and this first class is VERY manageable!

I start chamberlain Jan 5, 2015
I am scheduled for transitions and cultural diversity, but I plan on just taking transitions instead of two classes. From what I've read on this site transitions is a good class to pair with another course but I am finishing up an 8 week statistics course at another college and I need a break! :***:

Grand Canyon University RN to BSN Reviews
Interesting... I just talked to an advisor the other day who said I transferred in 87 credits and only required 11 out of the 12 core courses and nothing else to graduate. I mentioned the 36 credits and they said you had to have 30 credits from GCU for GCU residency. I took an upper level pathophys at a state university so this is the course I am transferring in, in addition to my 84 for RN.

If anyone had a good/fair/reasonable health assessment teacher they liked/enjoyed can you PM their name? OR- health assessment instructors I should stay away from? I would very much appreciate it! TIA!

I can't say anything about the NOC/NIC etc. since I'm only in Family Health but I was taught in nursing school that only wellness diagnoses do not have related to factors. For risk diagnoses there are the related to factors but there is no evidenced by/manifesting symptoms because they do not have the issue yet. A patient at risk for impaired skin integrity doesn't already have skin breakdown. Their diagnosis would be risk for impaired skin integrity related to urinary incontinence etc. If they did already have skin breakdown the diagnoses would be impaired skin integrity, risk for infection, etc. HTH. I thought maybe you made a typo and switched the related to/evidenced by but wasn't sure so there's my two cents!

That makes me feel better because that is what I have been using in this second class! I had been copying and pasting to my template. I use a Macbook and haven't noticed any issues so far with the template. That's another reason why I switched to the template because if I tried editing any little thing on the PERRLA reference page something would go haywire and I couldn't figure out what I was inputting wrong in the generator which is why I was manually editing the references. How did you become PERRLA proficient?

I did the same as you before starting up a few months ago. I'm happy with my decision thus far.

I believe you have to have 15 posts before being able to PM someone.

I probably just need a PERRLA tutorial lol. Maybe mine runs slow or I am just impatient because I feel I can type faster than going through all the PERRLA fields. I also am getting pretty familiar with how a journal article is referenced. If I want to use something already referenced I just go open that essay and copy and paste. I think I'm selecting the wrong selections at times also because sometimes it doesn't have the issue number etc. User error lol. I always save my stuff to a USB and numerous other places. I'm paranoid about losing my stuff!!!

So far so good! I'm getting pretty dang used to writing essays and more and more familiar with APA. I don't even use PERRLA anymore and I'm only in my 2nd class. This class was busier than the last but most of these essays are just typing the content from the family interviews/VARK results so I don't have to think TOO hard about em lol. Thanks tokmom for helping us all keep our sanity. I really like that I'm fixing to cross my 2nd class of my list soon. To me the 5 week classes are worth the extra work and getting closer to that degree sooner. I also like that it is mostly theory. As much as I hate essays I don't want to be reading/studying tons of chapters then setting aside a 20 minute time period to take a quiz or test (nearly impossible when you don't have anyone to keep your kids from interrupting you).

I used the AACN fact sheet as a source (it's also under the course material) and found a couple of articles that I will PM you. As for the care situation example I used my own example from a practice change we made in our workplace and how the BSN could facilitate that whereas an ADN might not know how or have the resources to do so (if that makes sense).

How do you go about getting their assistance? I tried the chat window once and it went awry...in the middle of getting help the librarian disappeared and I never heard back. No e-mail, phone call, nothing. Do you call, e-mail, use the chat window?

I saw on the tech FB page that it was still having issues as of 7 hours ago so it's possible it's not worked out yet.

I can't take credit for the GCU Tech FB page, I owe Tokmom for that one! Thanks for the info, looks like I have to stop procrastinating!

I just submitted it anyway! I waited an hour and still nothing so I finally went to bed. I saw the GCU tech FB page had a global ticket number so I gave that to my instructor..still waiting on their response. I told myself last weekend I wouldn't submit to TII so late and I obviously didn't learn my lesson. I think I have now lol Ask me next weekend ha, ha
