Puerto Rico License
Hello I am trying to obtain current (2023) information on obtaining my RN license in Puerto Rico. I have a current RN license in Florida since 1997 but still need to work a few more years before I can retire. We (my family) are moving to PR early next year so I want to start the process. Does anyone have any information on this as there is little online and the number to call just rings. The operator said it is very difficult to contact anyone from the BON there. Thank you

CFRN Review Course
Hello I'm new to flight nursing and need to get certified. I've done a ton of searches but haven't come across anything recent regarding review courses. I went on the BCEN website and the ASTNA.org website. I was hoping to take either a live or online review course. Can anyone guide me in the right direction? I have 18 yrs experience in ER/ICU/MICU/SICU & High Risk Labor and Delivery. However, from what I am reading I would still need to take a course or read a study guide etc to prepare for the exam. I would appreciate any help. Thanks so much.

Any travelers in CO? Does this sound right or should I look elsewhere?
Hi everyone, I'm looking for an assigment in Colorado (Denver or Colorado Springs). I see the last post here was in 2009 so I was wondering if there are any more recent travelers that have taken an assignment there? It's been 3 yrs since I've worked in a hospital setting. I was a Med/Surg Clinical Instructor at a university for 3 semesters and then landed my current job as a Practice Manager & Clincal Nurse in a freestanding Urgent Care/Primary Care center. Prior to that I worked ER and ICU I told the recruiter that even though my experience has been primarily in the ER & critical care units I would be willing to start again in Med?surg. I have 15 yrs exp but it seems most hospitals want at least your last employment to have been in a hospital setting. Any advise on good travel agencies and getting around the my last employment not being in a hospital setting? Thanks

Creating Policies and Procedures
Thank you for the response. I should have stated that I already checked with UACOA as I am a member. Nothing has been created yet on the web site. I know that I can purchase P&P online but I was hoping to find something free. I have already googled "free P&P manual for UC" but I have had no such luck. So if anyone out there knows of any free policy and procedure manuals for Urgent Care Centers please respond. Thank you so much. islandbsn

Hi everyone, I am in a new management position and opening up an Urgent Care Center. I was wondering if there are any templates or manuals already created for policies and procedures (clinical/HR/etc)? Can anyone share any information on this?

Got into Barry Univesity Accl program
Hi everyone, nice to know there are some barry grads out there on this site. I'm also a barry grad from 1997. And everything everyone is saying is true: very expensive, veery, very hard, but also very doable. The way I see it if I could do it anybody can. I was married and was raising a child at the time and running a business from home. However, my last year I ate, slept and pooped nursing. I do feel that those that do graduate from their program come out with a better education in nursing. Their method of teaching is "critical thinking". YOu come out knowing why it is you are doing something (in nursing I mean). Anyway best of luck to all those who will be attending and KUDOS to all those who made it!!!!! islandbsn

World Wide Travel Staffing
I Do Not Recommend World Wide Nor Gov Juan F Luis Hospital. The Agency Does Not Support Their Nurses And The Hospital Is Deplorable. I Was Left In The 16 Bed Er By Myself With 1 Doctor And 1 Secretary. That's Right No Other Staff. And The Agency Told Me That The Hosp Was Not Asking Me To Do Anything That They Would Not Ask Thier Own Staff Nurses To Do. I Worked There For 2 Years First For 6 Mos Then After Moving To St Croix I Worked There For 1.5 Yrs. My First 6 Mos Were With American Mobile, Then 9 Mos With Medical Services Then World Wide. Before I Cancelled My Contract With World Wide I Took It To A Local Attorney Who Said The Contract Was Bogus. It Was A One Way Contract Where The Nurse Had Absolutely No Rights. In Fact If I Wanted To I Could Sue Them For Supporting Unethical Working Conditions. St Croix However Is Imho One Of The Best Islands In The Caribean. This Is Now Home For Me. I Will Work As A Traveler Off Island For 3-6 Mos Then Come Home. I Hope That Other Nurses Who Read This Thread And Are Looking Into Working For World Wide Look Into It Real Good Because As I See It I Have No Respect For Nurses Who Tolerate That Type Of Working Condition. Most Doctors Have Told That Things In Nursing Will Only Change When Nurses Finally Say, " Enough Is Enough." I Can Go On About All My Experiences At Juan Luis Hosp If Any One Wants To Know Details. It Was Really My Only Bad Experience In Nursing And Traveling.

Is it worth it to be independent?
wyomingRN I am curious as to the process of becoming an independent contractor. Can you specify what the procedure is to get started. I currently hold a license for the state of FL and the USVI. I live in the USVI now and the pay is $16 - $25 /hr ($25 with a local agency there's only one). I would like tomaybe take on private patients or contract myself out to the hospitals (St Croix & St Thomas) but not thru and agency as they seem to be making more money off of us than we are. Any help will be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance. islandbsn
