  1. From a 5 year old patient at his well child visit while I took vitals... He held his arm at the elbow trying to get it as far from my reach as possible, "are you gonna shot me?!" ?
  2. Wow, I'm so sorry I never answered you. I ended up going to CCC. Hoping to graduate next June! Where did you end up?? Hope all is well!
  3. Hey... as far as I know, no one has heard anything yet from the school or certified profile. I have done my physical and immunizations (I only needed the TB test and a varicella titer - no shot). I wanted to have them done so that it's not a rush at the end of summer to get them done. Have you joined the fall cohort facebook page yet??
  4. By the way...have you joined the ASBN fall cohort page on FB yet?? You might have luck finding a roommate there :)
  5. Congrats on getting a spot in the fall cohort!! I accepted a spot in Clackamas' ADN program, but if OHSU called me next week, I'd take it! I'm also on the moderately likely list. Happy for you @Woofles!
  6. Hey! Yes, I had all of my pre-reqs finished when I applied, and all A's. It's my first year applying for nursing school. I applied at CCC, PCC, MHCC, and OHSU's ABSN program. I was accepted at CCC and waitlisted at PCC and OHSU. MHCC just flat out said they didn't want me...hahah! That's okay...I was actually hoping I wasn't accepted there. I want someone else to get the spot that WANTS to be there. I wasn't very happy with their application or interview processes.
  7. I agree with you 100%... I did a few pre-reqs at Clackamas, I enjoy working with everyone there, and I feel like they're very upfront with you about what their program is like, cost, etc. I'll have a much smaller loan and a much shorter commute (which doesn't include the parking nightmare at OHSU). I just would much rather do the shorter route to a BSN, like you. I'm on the moderately likely list, so I'm pretty sure there's not a chance in hell I'll be offered a spot, but hey, I can dream, right?
  8. Wow, I'm surprised they gave you this much info. Both time I've called, they've been super secretive and won't tell me much of anything. Good to know. I'm not holding my breath, but I would love to get a call from them.
  9. MHCC didn't give me a number on their waitlist. Neither did PCC or OHSU. I think Clackamas is the only school that tells the 1-15 people on the waitlist to come to orientation (PCC might too...I don't remember).
  10. I'm in the exact same boat. I got in to Clackamas' ADN program. Where are you going? If OHSU called me the day before, I'd still take the spot. I want sooooo badly to be in this ABSN program.
  11. Hey all! It's been a while. Have any of you heard of people being pulled from the alternate list? I've accept a spot in CCC's nursing program but would JUMP if I got a call from OHSU. Anyway.. just curious!
  12. I think we should start a FB group! Once someone has done that, please post so we can all join! I will try to do that this afternoon/evening if no one else has yet. Thanks!! :)
  13. CONGRATS to all of you that got accepted at PCC!!!! I'm sticking with my spot at CCC. See you Clackamas people in a couple weeks! :)
  14. This week has been crazy, so I haven't sent in my letter of intent. I planned on hand delivering it to the health admissions office on Monday on my lunch break.
  15. I'm with ya, feeldz! Looking forward to May 29. See you at orientation!
  16. I'm guessing that means you're on the waitlist, but not in the top 15 on the list. BTW - got my email from MHCC. I was not accepted. I'm 100% fine with that. I really wasn't impressed with their interview style and I wasn't very interested in going there, so I'm glad someone else got a spot in place of me! Still waiting to hear from PCC, but I think I'm going to accept at CCC.
  17. @T1meK1ller - Unless OHSU pulls me off their alternate list for the accelerated BSN program - yes, I'll be accepting admission at Clackamas :)
  18. I got my email at 11:30am! I was offered a spot at Clackamas! Good luck on the waitlist of 15 people. I think those 15 still have a good chance of getting in!
  19. Just got my acceptance email from Clackamas at 11:30am! WOOHOO!
  20. I wasn't feeling very upset or frustrated with OHSU until I had to deal with this whole alternate list thing. Why are they so secretive about who they're pulling from it? Why don't they tell us how many people are on the "highly likely" and "moderately likely" list, and how many people have already taken a spot? I agree that it's not that hard to send out an email blast with info about it all. I would like to know if I have any chance in hell or if I should completely write that option off.
  21. Really?! That's good news. I'm not holding my breath either, but she made it sound pretty hopeless. @ktulu19js - I'm surprised you had such a distaste for the interview process. I thought it was a pretty thorough interview. The panel interview questions were thoughtful and I think they were looking for how well rounded you are, rather than just asking "why do you want to become a nurse?" THAT would be a canned answer, for sure. Also, congratulations about being admitted to Linfield! Good luck and enjoy the ride!! :)
  22. I had 54 points and a 4.0. I felt like the oral part of my interview went really well! The written was so so. It was a tough topic to write on in only 30 minutes!
  23. All you guys on the alternate list... I just called Admissions. She said that as of now, both the summer and the fall cohorts are full because enough people have accepted their position there. In the chance that someone decides they don't want to attend, or accepts a spot somewhere else, then they will pull someone else up. Doesn't look very promising for us
  24. Hey guys... both PCC and CCC said we'd hear the week of May 11 (at the latest), and MHCC said by May 15. I think I did really well on the written PCC interview, and really well on the verbal part of the CCC interview. The essay at CCC WAS hard! I agree. It was such a short amount of time to really get your brain going, figure out what you wanted to say, and then get it typed out. As far as MHCC - I didn't feel great about either piece of the interview. The written part was HAND WRITTEN and 2 essays in 30 min. The essays were pretty generic and lame too (...that's not very nice, but it's how I felt about it). The verbal instructions were NOT clear and we were given a VERY short time to answer both questions. The ladies also talked about us the moment we walked out of the room, until they called the next candidate in. How unprofessional! Wait til we leave... we can hear you! Although I will be very thankful and grateful to be admitted at any of the 4 programs I applied to, I certainly hope I have a choice because MHCC is not at the top of my list... Yesterday was totally exhausting @schicharro, CNA! I was at Clackamas from 7:50-9:30, then worked from 9:45-4:30, and then went to MHCC from 5:20-7:30. Oy... glad that day is in the past now!
  25. How do you think you did? I had both my CCC and MHCC interviews today. I really liked CCCs format and even though the essay question was kind of hard (in my opinion), I was happy with it! I felt comfortable and would look forward to being admitted there. MHCC on the other hand - I was less than impressed with the interview process. Meh...
