2011: Update: New to Homecare? Info to get you started
hello, I was just reading your message. I graduated in May 07 and i'm currently working at a hospital in PCU. I also have a very strong interest in home health for the same reasons you mentioned, and I'm wondering how things worked for you. Do I have a chance even though I don't have much experience? I'd appreciate if you could drop me an email at [email protected]. Thank you very much, Lia

How Does One Know If They Possess What It Takes To Do Nursing?
Daytonite: Wow... your mom (and you) are an inspiration to all of us starting this journey. Thank you very much for sharing. I'm so excited, I'm having a hard time sleeping. I know it will be hard and I have a good idea of what is in front on me... but somehow, I know it will be ok. I know I'm diving in head first and I know God will help me through it. I find very comforting that many of us are in the same boat, I love this board... thank you very much for taking the time to inspire us. Keep it coming. All the best to you. PS: Love and hugs to the cats... :) Lia

How Does One Know If They Possess What It Takes To Do Nursing?
Hi there... I was reading your message, and I'd like to thank you so much for taking the time to speak candidly about your experiences as a nurse. I start nursing school in two weeks and the thought of harming someone scares me... but I feel deep in my heart that I made the right decision. I saved money for 4 years and just quit my job of 15 years to start nursing school at age 42... On top of it, I'm a single parent. Well, some people thought I was crazy. But I've always wanted to be a nurse, and it is now or never. I figured I'd give it a try. Let's just say that I am leaning on my faith right now... But I must admit that "knowing nothing" at the moment is what makes me the most uncomfortable, and I can't wait to start school and learn what I need to learn. Thank you very much, your message gave me much needed encouragement!! :) By the way, I have 4 cats and love each one of them!!!! :rotfl:

Need a good ICU book
Hi Mark, Just want to say that I'm so impressed with your notes. It is wonderful that you took the time to do this -- Even though I'm a nursing student, I printed them out and created a book for my reference later in my career - I'm interested in ICU nursing. Thank you very much for your efforts. Lia

Self-Scheduling
Thank you very much for the response... It's good to hear that we can still get benefits. I would LOVE to work on a self scheduling basis once I start working (I start school in August 05). Thanks again! :)

Roll Call--Fall '05!
Hi Everybody!! I'm starting my 2-year nursing program at Valencia Community College in Orlando on August 29. I am soooo very excited, but nervous at the same time... :uhoh21: Nursegirl, Thank you so much for the great words of wisdom. I welcome any feedback from senior students. Question -- did you ever "gag" during your clinicals??? I'm a bit nervous about that - I have a very quick "gag reflex". I don't have a problem with seeing dead people, blood or such, but smells can get to me. I assume I'll get use to it.......
