  1. I was wondering where you applied? Do you have the website? Is it still open? Thanks
  2. Yes, Fitzgerald's review class gives you a lot more information then you need to pass the exam. I traveled to another city and paid for hotel and transportation to attend this class. For me, it was very useful and helpful and I am planning to use the information when I practice. But I have heard that Hollier's review is right to the point and gives you the info on what you need to pass the board. If I were you, I'd go to Hollier's review course. You just need to get ready for your exam and that's all you need to focus on at this point
  3. I took the Fitzgerald's review class about a month prior to my exam. I studied her work book and also her review book. Got the online APEA Q bank and some of Leik's review questions. Studied about 3-4 weeks and took my exam in January 2014, passed it firs try. Good luck!
  4. christvs, I am a FNP and looking for a good DNP program. Which school are you going to? Is it online?
  5. I am in the same boat as you. I graduated in November 2013, applied for my NP license in December and so far no license. I have called the BON numerous times and I got the same answer as what you heard. I finally got the evaluator's direct phone number and was able to talk to him. I am working on what's missing from my application. If you want pm me and I'll provide you with the contact number I have.
  6. NPs do face to face visits for patients who need a new certification period after being on Hospice care for one or maybe two cert periods recently. The NP I worked with used to take calls and order meds, ok admissions, etc, cover for MDs, and do the face to face visits. I am not sure about the pay but it varies depending on your location.
  7. The process is really S L O W with California's BON these days. I graduated in November 2013, passed my board January 2014, have applied for my NP license and they haven't even looked at the application yet. I called and I was told that from the date my check was cashed it would take about 90 days for the to review and hopefully process the application. Once I get it I'd need to apply for Furnishing number and DEA and NPI,... I am kind of frustrated because I have job offers but I can start working or even training because I don't even have my NP license yet,.... Hang in there
  8. Walden in accredited by CCNE. I graduated from Walden's FNP program and I live in California. Once you finish the program you need to pass your board and you'll get licensed in CA.

I have Fitzgerald's review book. I'd strongly recommend taking a live review course, I attended Fitzgerald's review course and it was very helpful. Also, take some practice questions online 1-2 weeks before your board. I purchased the Q bank from APEA. Leik's review questions are one of the best study tools and I had 2 questions on the board exam worded exactly the same from Leik's book. Good luck and I am sure you'll pass the next one.

    congratulations!!!!
  11. I am a new grad and I am going to start my new job soon at a primary care setting. I need to get some useful apps on y iPhone such as meds, Dx, symptoms, etc. I have purchased UpToDate last year which is going to expire in 2 months and I am not looking into renewing it since it's very expensive and I won't get the student discount anymore. What's your favorite app? Thank you!
  12. Thank you Juan, Yes, I found out that I need my NP license first to apply for FN and DEA. I am patiently waiting for my NP license now Thank you for your helpful comments.
  13. I passed my board today (yayyyy! :)) I have send my application to the state of California and will probably get my license in a week or two (I hope!). Now where to I start and go about obtaining my DEA and furnishing number? Do I apply for both of them at the same time? Can I apply for them while I'm waiting to get my license? I already have a job offer waiting for me. Thank you
  14. I was super anxious this morning too, but tried to calm myself by positive self talk. the day before the test I did activities like cooking and other projects with my children, i listened to some of my favorite songs and danced to some of them;) Whatever that it takes to reduce the anxiety level. I attended Fitzgerald's live review course, studied her review book and the workbook that comes with the class, I bought the Q Bank from APEA, bought 2 test sets from AANP-NP and one set of test from AANP. That's pretty what I studied. If you're reading your book or listening to the CD's and know the material, you're READY to take the test and you'll pass. Just trust in yourself. Good luck to you. Let us know how you do :)
  15. I just PASSED my AANP exam today!!! Thank you all for the advise and kind words. :)
