List of Online FNP Programs Approved by NYS?
Basically if you live in NY, you can not attend an online school. The State of NY WILL NOT ACCEPT it and you will not be able to get approved for clinical Practicum hours. I think NY at present only accepts Frontier & one other online school.......Not sure which other one. However if you live OUTSIDE of NY and went to an on-line school, completed a course in Pharmacology as a part of your FNP, then you can apply for a NY APRN State license through National Certification once you have passed boards or either ANCC or AANP. Once the state of NY has received all of your material for licensure, you then have to take a "Prescriptive Writing" course (can be completed On-line for about $25) and upon completing the course, complete application packet & National Board Certification, then you will be issued a NY State License as an Advance Nurse Practitioner. I live in TX and graduated from an On-Line program for FNP and I have just completed the tasks required for obtaining a NY State APRN-FNP License!!!

Passed AANP FNP
Congrats! on passing boards fmAtoZ&backagain !!!!! What AANP books are you referring to and what 1,000 necessary questions are you speaking about? Could you share with us what you used for your study material and how you prepared for AANP boards exactly? When you took practice tests on the familynpprep website, did you go to their other site (Exam Edge) select AANP questions? I believe the familynpprep is for the ANCC exam and maybe that's why it was not helpful to you since you took AANP.

Passed AANP FNP
Oh I forgot to add that I also did Barkley 2014 home study CD's along with Hollier 2014 CD's for Family Nurse Practitioner and found Barkley's material to be very detailed as well as inclusive. Barkley teaches from the core and provides a lot of simple explanations for certain topics that nurses may not come in contact with on a daily basis during clinical practice! I highly recommend Hollier or Barkley's CD's for review of AANP-Certification Exam! They both know how to put all the pieces together and make such a large amount of material, comprehensible!

Passed AANP FNP
This is FANTASTIC information to know! Thank you soooooo much for sharing your experience. Especially clearing up the big mystery about questions from JNC8. I found that in Hollier's 2014 review she states that it will not be tested on but I have read on here from someone that was at Fitzgerald's live review some time last week, the she states that it is "fair game" and students should expect questions from JNC8. Also glad you found Hollier's book (1300 questions) helpful. I was going to purchase questions from APEA's web site under Q-Bank but glad I didn't when I learned that they were the same questions as what was already in the book. I also found practice questions from Leik's latest edition book to be extremely helpful along with practice questions from Exam Edge-for the AANP exam.

Has Any Body Taken AANP-2014 FNP Boards?s
Wow Accelerated25 August graduation that's fantastic!!! Congradulations! The majority of my questions were 99% clinical but there were a few on what I call "common sense" issues that would fall under legal, patient privacy, health promotions issues etc. Nothing that was not covered in my 2014 APEA review CD's as well as 2014 Barkley review CD's. Exam Edge is GREAT!!! That's fantastic that you were doing practice questions since last fall. When you say you did "Fitzgerald, Leik & Hollier" do you mean just practice exam questions from their books? websites? or did you do thier FNP-CD review course that has questions at the end of the chapters???

Thank you nfnicole for sharing your experience and CONGRATS on passing boards!!! I feel that Hollier & Barkley's review really drives things home and hits ALL the high lights that you need for taking the certification exam. I found that practice questions in Leiks book were really similar to questions on the certification exam. Hollier's practice question book is a good fundamental book to get you warmed up when preparing for boards, but it should not be your only source. Those predictor exams on APEA's web site and practice exams from Exam Edge (http://www.AANP-FNP.com) were an excellent way to practice test questions and assess your progress with exam strengths and weaknesses.

Has Any Body Taken AANP-2014 FNP Boards?s
I had a class mate that had the Fitzgerald review course on CD's and I found it to be hard to keep up with. It was very long drawn out and a lot of tedious info that was not on the boards. There were too many referrals that Fitzgerald CD's made to looking up graphs, charts, and other stuff on line in addition to what was in the work book. Barkley and Hollier are much better review course CD's to purchase if you are going to spend that much money and purchase a live review course. Also I used Leik's 2nd edition book (600 questions with rationals), Hollier's 2013 book with 1300 questions, along with some purchased practice exams from APEA and a bundle of 40 tests from http://www.AANP-FNP.com. In review of both CD's for Hollier & Barkley along with all the other materials I used, I studied for 5-8 hours a day for 6 weeks and I took the AANP. So glad, all the hard work paid off and well worth the investments!!!

Thanks for your feed back chillnurse! I could not afford to travel with hotel expense and all for the next up coming Fitzgerald live review course. I will be attending APEA, Amelie Hollier's live review this month before taking boards. Have you taken boards yet? What other review material are you using?

Thanks nursecosita for sharing your study techniques and your thoughts on Fitzgerald's review. I have her 2010 book with practice questions. I have already registered for Hollier's live review this month coming to my home town, because I could not spare the financial expense of traveling for Fitzgerald's review. I will add her CD's to my list of prep material to purchase.

Hello sugarsweet21612, I had been searching around on google for the longest and could not find the family NP prep exam site you were referring to. Another post on here stated that the address changed to: http://www.AANP-FNP.com the prices seem reasonable: If anybody else is taking FNP under AANP for 2014 here are the prices.
