  1. I'm a new nurse in rehab/hospice/LTC facility... When charting, I do go back and view what other nurses has written as well... I use their notes as a comparison or baseline as to what I saw... I ask questions and leave the electronic chart open but saved until I get an answer... If I forget to close it then my supervisor will let me know the next day and I ask her to assist me... I have found errors from other nurses but I still chart what I saw and be as detailed as possible without writing a page...
  2. I'm a new nurse and I am starting out at rehab/hospice/LTC facility. We get 4-6 weeks orientation... We work 12 hours shifts 7am-7pm and I love the hours... I wanted to work at the hospital but they actually paid $4 less than LTC ... As a new nurse with two children and being broke while in school that was a straight solid NO!!! I'm going to take every advantage of my orientation time ... One of my classmates got 2 days of orientation before she was on a medicine cart by herself... At my job offer I specifically ask about orientation time and I informed them that I don't expect to be an expert on the cart but I wanted proper time for learning and understand that I am a new nurse with many questions and need assistance.

  20. I'm officially a NURSE!!! I took the NCLEX on Thursday June 18 and paid for my unofficial results 48 business hours later. It was the best $7.95 I spent!!! I'm still smiling !!! I look at several resources for about one week before I commit to one. The Hurst was excellent because it was straight to the point. Kaplan was good but over my head. However, the pediatric lectures was simple. Also, I used a study guide I found online (32 pages), which was very helpful. A medication summary (3 pages). Kaplan NCLEX trainer. These can be emailed. My NCLEX day started out peaceful and I was more excited than nervous. The test offer me a break and I took it. I went into the bathroom and wanted to cry because I felt like I was failing. But I encouraged myself through and went back to complete my exam. I was scared when it shut off at 75!!! It was the hardest test I ever took. But thank God I passed. Inasmuch, I went back and highlighted area that I remember from the exam and to my surprise. 1/3 pediatric 1/3 psychiatric 1/3 delegation... My 3 highest areas I scored high on during school and on Hesi!!!! 3-4 weeks of studying is more than enough! I'm still smiling
  21. 60 questions??? You didn't take NCLEX!!!!
