Assessment question? Is this common?
I'm a new nurse in rehab/hospice/LTC facility... When charting, I do go back and view what other nurses has written as well... I use their notes as a comparison or baseline as to what I saw... I ask questions and leave the electronic chart open but saved until I get an answer... If I forget to close it then my supervisor will let me know the next day and I ask her to assist me... I have found errors from other nurses but I still chart what I saw and be as detailed as possible without writing a page...

New Grad LTC
I'm a new nurse and I am starting out at rehab/hospice/LTC facility. We get 4-6 weeks orientation... We work 12 hours shifts 7am-7pm and I love the hours... I wanted to work at the hospital but they actually paid $4 less than LTC ... As a new nurse with two children and being broke while in school that was a straight solid NO!!! I'm going to take every advantage of my orientation time ... One of my classmates got 2 days of orientation before she was on a medicine cart by herself... At my job offer I specifically ask about orientation time and I informed them that I don't expect to be an expert on the cart but I wanted proper time for learning and understand that I am a new nurse with many questions and need assistance.

When I was a student nurse, I used this site to ask questions, get answers, study guides, school information and other things. There are hundreds of posting with nurses who shared there way of passing the NCLEX and related resources. My 32 pages study guide can from this website! Then a classmate of mine found it on quiz-let! I learned a lot from this website, received much study information and I'm willing to pass it on to help others.

If you STILL need visual help with psychiatric medications ... You Tube Simple Nursing video called "Bonus anti depressants pharm quiz " ( I copied all the information on one sheet of blank paper) You tube Micheal Jimenez for lithium, heparin, insulin & 12 cranial nerves ( I used a large note card for each one) THESE WERE WONDERFUL RESOURCES! I will share vitamin when I find where I got the info
