BLS instructor
I'm full time faculty at a school, I am also a BLS, ACLS and PALS instructor. The problem I have is that my school also has a paramedic program and have their own training site. For me to teach at the college would be a conflict of interest. Right now I do not have the time to set up classes outside of what I ma doing at the college. I'll keep them all current so I can teach them if the opportunity arises. RH

How much time per test question?
I do my best t keep exams to 50 questions, and allow the exam takers 80 minutes to complete. The 80 minutes is figured out to be about 1 1/2 minutes per question. That, and I do not want to be there on exam days watching them take an exam all day.

New clinical instructor ~any tips for a new instructor?
I like what ER RN Instructor says about send the students to other departments, there is more to nursing than just nursing. I get quite a few paramedics through our program, and me being a paramedic as well get most of the in clinical. I try not to send the through the ED, because they can do that job blindfolded, I have the paramedics go through ICU and cath lab as much as they can. For the generic students I try to give them as much verity as I can without overwhelming them. RH

Story of New Job Teaching at Unaccredited LPN School
When I graduated my MSN, I interviews at a "school" like this in Houston. My gut told me is was not on the up and up and passed on the job offer. I got hired by an accredited program for the spring semester. I am very happy with that decision. My concern for you is that if you leave in the middle of a semester, is that unprofessional behavior? You took the job, and have made a commitment to preform your duties. I would say get out as soon as you can, don't let the school take you down. Good luck.

Can I get a show of hands from those that were not successful what is your MS in? Nursing education or something else? I had several ed classes in my program, that I hope will prepare me for the CNE exam. Wish me luck.

Nursing Classroom Education: The big bang of powerpoint slavery
I am a new educator, and I can feel your pain. The flip side of your problem is that for every hour of classroom lecture, we spend 4-5 hours of prep time. Powerpoint and other like presentations are just a tool to get the information across. It is still the job of the class facilitator to present the information in a way that the majority of the learners get the most out of what is put out. If not all that prep time was a waste.
